linda yee and how police are planning to respond to the community. >> reporter: three officers answered the 911 call from a woman who said she was stabbed. they confronted the suspect inside the home. >> the suspect had some type of a weapon, possibly some type of a thief, the weapon -- and the officers asked him to put the weapon down. the suspect apparently came towards the officers and the officers fired. >> the suspect was killed. >> reporter: it's not clear what the motive was for the attack. there was an unusually heavy press essence of police investigators and command staff. because this was an officer- involved shooting the investigation is bumped up to another level involving inspectors with homocide, internal affairs, the district attorney's office, the office of citizen complaints and the police chief himself. >> we're working with a family, we'll be working with a community, and we'll probably have a community meeting tomorrow. >> reporter: are you concerned because there's some tension building on this particular case. >> no, i don't think there are any tensions but we want
