. >> reporter: when linda piper opened the package from california and saw what was inside her heart just about stopped. >> touching something that belonged to him, i'm in shock. >> reporter: these are the dog tags her late husband wore when he served in the coast guard in vietnam. he died in 2008, but he hadn't been forgotten by his family or navy veteran kim vincent of california. is he found his dog tags while antiquing out west. she tracked down the woman and returned them. >> it was sad for me last week when i had to drop them in the mail to her i thought we connected. >> she is an angel. >> reporter: linda piper has no idea how the dog tags wound up in a california antique store. she said terry lived there for a time, but was careful about his military memorabilia. linda said having a reminder of her husband she can hold in her hand was difficult and wonderful. >> getting the dog tags was a message from him, i'm not coming back, i'm gone and it it was time for me to move on. >> reporter: it was very rewarding i was able to find the family. >> reporter: back in california kim co
