linda so is live with what's going on involving some of the houses. linda. >> reporter: crews have been able to make a lot of progress here in the 1400 block of ford avenue. they have been here since monday causing the outage. next step this morning is they will be patching up the holes in the road and hopefully restoring gas service starting later tonight. the good news is about 100 homes and businesses are back online because they were rerouted to a different main. that is long antedous progress because they have to enter each home to turn off the gas. it's the only way to make sure the gas doesn't leak into the homes. last night bge crews had to start forcing their way into a hundred homes where they haven't been able to get in touch with the owner. a locksmith and police officer assisted once the repair to thebroken gas main is complete, workers have to go back to the homes to physically turn the gas back on. >> they may experience a light odor of gas but if they small strong order of gas we encourage customers to leave the premise immediately and

live at city hall, linda so, abc2 news. >>> a violent weekend at arundel mills mall after two people were shot and killed in the mall's parking lot. police tracked down and killed the suspect. corinne redman is standing by with details how the event unfold and shoppers are saying about their safety. >> reporter: the weekend homicide has not kept shoppers away but left many asking questions over the mall security. this morning police are not saying if there's a motive behind the killings but don't believe it was a random act either. police tell us that 25-year-old jeneen dunn and chonsay green were shot and killed in the parking lot near dave and busters. both victims were shot in the head and produced dead at the scene early saturday morning. witnesses led police to district heights where they were able to track down the shooting suspect james coleman at his home. that's when coleman walked out the front door with an ak47 in one hand and a shotgun in the other. and opened fire on police. one officer was shot in the face and hand and leg before police shot and killed coleman. abc2 spo

linda so, abc2 news. >>> and new information this morning into the murder easer mother and her son in germantown. prosecutors say curtis lopez drove to maryland and steals his estranged wife's car and gives it to his girlfriend in north carolina and texted a photo of the girlfriend's car saying here's your car. jane was killed while sleeping in her bed and her son william he was kill the next day. this according to investigators. curtis lopez is charged in the death of jane and suspected in william's death. his actions during the william mcquain's final hours were captured in two location on video a gas station near where the body was found and a storage facility. >> it clearly shows him and clearly shows the child and it clearly sees him going in anthe at one point in time after coming from the storage facility, placing a baseball bat in the back seat. >> authorities believe the baseball bat is the murder weapon that was used to kill the 11-year-old child. >>> a reward of 10,000 dollars being offered to help find suspects in the death of congressman elijah coupling's nephew. chris fo
