[applause] >> thanks, lindsey. at this point you might be asking yourself a question that it actually asked myself when i first started. if alzheimer's is so widespread, why am i just hearing about it now? so alzheimer's disease was first discovered in 1906, and by the way, the person in whom it was discovered at the same genetic mutation as the demoe ham and she was 56 when she died. for the next six years after the discovery, science essentially ignored the disease. they thought it was a rare affliction and different from what we called senility in older people. so that allowed alzheimer's to continue unchecked and was really no research funding associated withff it. in the mid-1960s a study proved that senility is actually in most cases alzheimer's, and that it's a disease impacting millionsin of people. but still the scientific community and the public really didn't give it a whole lot of thought. because the reality is when you think of a disease as affecting mostly older people, we do pay less attention. in 1

do you agree with lindsey graham there on that?, i agree that we should stand with the iranian people and think of ways to support them. and also be careful to not embrace them too much so that we somehow delegitimate them. remember, not everybody in iran thinks a tweet from the president of the united states is a good thing. including opposition leaders. but i think it's really wrong to tie together the iran nuclear deal with the fate of these democratic protests. maybe there was some relationship in the past, but to somehow for us to bring in our domestic politics, debating whether that iranian nuclear deal was good or bad, with what's going on on the streets of iran, i think is improper. and there's no evidence whatsoever that the protesters in iran today are talking about the iran nuclear deal that we did with the iranian regime and the five other leaders in the p-5 plus one. so separate out those two issues, and hopefully there will be something that can be done to advance democracy and human rights inside iran. >> i want to s

you wrote about lindsey graham explicitly, he's someone who was admitted by the russians, had strongsia gate. what are the not so innocent explanations for why he's changed? >> yeah, there's always the explanation of careerism, opportunism, that's an aspect of politics, we shouldn't rule that out. that can go hand in hand. the rnc was hacked, we don't know what happened with those e-mails, we know that lindsey graham's personal e-mails were also hacked. and trump has a long track record of blackmailing and threatening who he sees as his political opponents. that goes back throughout his entire career. especially in terms of his lawyers. and so i think it's possible that some of these gop players might be greedy and opportunistic are also being blackmailed or threatened. there's also the issue i think of contamination in the sense of the russia investigation. we know that there are a number of shady donors, a lot of dirty money, some of it stemming from russian oligarch's. and that certain individuals may not want to be investigated for their role in taking that kind of money. lindsey
