[applause] >> thank you.hank you very much. i'm so delighted to come here and talk about our work. and this is an occasion that, uh, giveves me the opportunity to raise more issues that we see in the connection with our work. grameen bank, which was started back in 1976... not as an effort of a bank or anything, as an individual, i was trying to make myself useful to the village next door to the university campus. the reason was the country was going through a famine, and it is a very unpleasant experience for anybody in a country, particularly more unpleasant if you are teaching elegant theories of economics in your classroom, and you see things happening in a terrible way, and your knowledge or your understanding of it does, uh, doesn't make any impact outside. so, i thought, maybe i'll just be this...another person, another individual, to go out and stand next to another individual, to see if i could be of any assistance, any help, in any way, to one individual, even for a day. so, that was my only mission
