here's abc's linsey davis. >> reporter: tonight, new video of the moment the crowd realized something had gone horrifically wrong. listen -- >> that one didn't open. all the way back there. >> reporter: that's 27-year-old navy seal, remington peters' parachute. >> priority one fall, parachute down. >> his chute didn't open. >> reporter: his chute failing to deploy, sending him plunging into the hudson river. the u.s. coast guard pulling him out, but he did not survive. one witness captured this haunting image of his empty parachute floating to the ground, landing in a parking lot. peters was an elite navy skydiver, two combat deployments, more than 900 jumps. he was performing with navy parachute team, the leap frogs, during a fleet week demonstration. his family released a statement describing peters' fierce loyalty to his friends, family, and his country. he lived life to the fullest, they say. and then there's this photo taken just one day before his death, helping a young fan to try on a parachute. >> reporter: the investigation into just what caused peters' parachute to fail is o

here's linsey davis. >> reporter: two very different versions are now emerging of the events captured on this surveillance video at a pittsburgh high school. last month, que'chawn wade had a verbal exchange with officer steve shaulis, who then aggressively forced the 14-year-old into the principal's office. wade says the officer punched him, knocking out his front tooth. >> it shouldn't have happened. it didn't have to happen. >> reporter: in 2015, the same school resource officer put another teen in a choke hold, slammed him to the ground and appears to use a taser on him. the man helping him, principal kevin murray. >> he's attempting to place him under arrest but the student is resisting. >> reporter: in 2016, a third student recorded the principal saying this. >> i don't give a [ bleep ] if you're 14 years old or not, i will punch you in your face. >> reporter: the attorney for the three students says they plan to file civil rights complaints against the officer, principal, school district and school board. >> reporter: the officer is still on active duty but no longer working at
