linsey davis moderated the panel. she joins us now. re than anywhere else in the world, we were able to get these five top scientists to agree on one thing unanimously. i asked the question, what do you think is the single biggest factor that's led us to this moment? they said hands down the problem is leadership. it was a stunning headline. just last month four former heads of the cdc argued in a "washington post" op-ed that science has been overtaken by the public health response. the headline -- we ran the cdc. no president ever politicized its science the way trump has with the subtitle, the administration is undermining public health. how unprecedented is it to have the president of the united states regularly pushing back on the science and his own medical experts, and also how dangerous is it? >> i can't think of any precedent for this. the way an emergency response should work is there's an organized decision-making process. once that decision is made, everybody gets on board it and defends it and implements it. >> it's absolute

linsey davis joins us now with more on the daughter of immigrants becoming the first woman of color toala harris made that big splash on the national stage, the debate stage when she was talking about busing and she said, i am that little girl, and today i'm mindful of all the little girls who are watching in this moment. of course, many of the headlines about the history of it, but in the same vein, it's also very much about the future and the inspiration that comes along with it. at 55 years old kamala harris is no stranger to making history. born in oakland, california, in october 1964, she's the daughter of immigrants, her father from jamaica, her mother from india. >> she was all of five feet tall but if you ever met her you probably would think she was seven to ten feet tall. >> reporter: harris learned about race and identity at an early age. her parents separated when she was just 6. her mother raised harris and her sister, maya. the two grew up in the bay area, bused across berkeley in the 1960s. that experience proved a pivotal moment in the primary season of this election. >
