job lipton has some details. josh? >> reporter: you noted that salesforce could be in play. the next question, who the potential buyers are. as our colleague ari levy pointed out on cnbc.com, it's a small list. the only u.s., internet and software companies that are valued bigger, larger than sales force, it's small, microsoft, google, facebook, oracle and ibm. it's worth noting, though, that salesforce see you mark beniof was here at the developer conference this morning. he was listening to satya's keynote and tweeting about this relationship between salesforce and microsoft. remember that is a relationship that's got gotten deeper and strong stronger since nadella took the helm. his job was to excite the 5,000 developers here about writing apps for his cloud platform and not rivals, whether that's amazon and oracle. he also talked about windows 10, that new operating system. a single unified system that's run across tablet, phones, p.c.s and game consoles. so developers write one app, potentially reach that many more users. one thing that always strikes me is how comforta

our own josh lipton filed this report. >> yahoo! ceo marissa meyer says her country is in the middle of a transformation. as the latest earnings results prove it can be a bumpy ride. yahoo! reported first quarter eps of 15 cents on revenue of $1.04 billion. wall street wanted to see 18 cents on $1.06 billion. so that was a disappointing miss on both the bottom and the top. drilling into the earnings release, yahoo! said search revenue was $432 million. a drop of 3%. analysts predicted revenue of 443 million. some financial analysts think the renewed search deal with microsoft could help search growth in the second half of the year. >> switching gears, display revenue was 381 million. a drop of 7%. that was in line with what analysts had forecast. trying to offset declines in desktop display by pushing harder into new areas such as mobile. yahoo! said q-1 mobile revenue was $234 million up from 145 million in the period. there has been a lot of progress in yahoo!'s culture, products and user engagement but analysts are quick to note
