thank you, lisa. pg&e has restored power to more than 4,000 customers affected by on outage in half moon bay. the lights went out yesterday afternoon and electricity was restored by 10:00 last night. so far this morning we are not hearing about any new outages in the bay area. another 500 customers lost power briefly yesterday afternoon in pittsburgh and bay point. this was caused by a car running into a power pole. and in redwood city and belmont, service is back to normal following two separate outages caused by downed trees on friday night. and here is an example of the storm-related problems that pg&e is facing. in oakland winds knocked down a tree at quickly street near 580. oakland firefighters and pg&e crews were dispatched to the scene after the tree fell on a power line leading to one home. the house was damaged, too, and the tree also hit a car that was parked nearby. well, despite the rain, a lot of folks are counting on this weekend. they've gotta try to finish up their holiday shopping. l

lisa amin gulezian is there live to run down the latest for us. lisa? >> dan, a lot of people are at the scene of the multi person shooting. it happened around 7:15 tonight at the intersection of 8th lane and linden avenue. and look behind me. the d.a. arrived and he is speaking with the coroner. they got here a few minutes ago, and they are assessing the situation. south san francisco police have confirmed a total of six people were shot. two are dead, one person is in critical condition, and three victims have nonlife-threatening injuries. and they are being treated at area hospitals. investigators do not know why this happened, and they have not released the names of any of the people involved. but they are looking for three suspects. they may be driving a brown chevy i'm paula, similar to the one you are looking at right now with tinted windows. police also confirm this is an area known for its gang problems, but they will not say if this was a gang-related shooting. at this point investigators have set up a perimeter, and they are looking for the s

lisa: certainly residents of 6th st. are concerned with the level of noise that comes from the clubs at night and the level of drug sales. one of the meetings specifically around the clubs we were able to get a lot of the club owners to come to the meeting. we had someone from the entertainment commission come and speak with a lot of the neighbors. and that was a small success to meet with the club owners because i think a lot of the people don't feel they have an avenue for complaining or when it comes to their concern. ben: i think that's calmed down to a certain extent. i think that people have learned to live with what's there. some of the clubs that caused a lot of the noise complaints are just gone, shut down because of either economics or a combination of noise problems or neighborhood problems. and you know... i'm sure there are people who would say it would be great if it was still 1975 and there were bathhouses and whatever, but obviously things change. if we want to aim south of market in a direction that mayb

lisa amin gulezian is live in brisbane tonight. lisa? >> carolyn, the soldier came here to the brisbane police department to file a report after he returned from iraq in 2008. he claimed the one man he trusted to take care of his finances and his home during his two-year-long deployment swindled him. the soldier's wife died the year before, and he had very few people he could trust. the 51-year-old reservist gave kenneth mccal the power of attorney. mccall was supposed to pay all the bills while the soldier was in the middle east for two years. when he returned he found charges to pet co and comp usa and best buy. the soldier said mccall stole $30,000 from him, but mccall's attorney paints a different picture. he says the two men were friends and the soldier knew exactly where the money was going at all times. >> most of these alleged personal expenses were expenses for the household and for the kids. secondly mr. mccall had long authorized when the two were getting along to take out loans for some personal expenses which he then repaid.

here's nbc's senior investigative correspondent lisa myers. >> reporter: 1972. a tumultuous time. and the year taxpayers began paying for kidney dialysis for anyone who needs it. today, 381,000 americans with kidney disease go to 5,500 clinics at a cost to taxpayers of almost $21 billion a year. yet the government has withheld some critical information about conditions at those clinics. cathy sharkey's mother, barbara scott, got dialysis three times a week. >> we were very close. >> reporter: but this petite, active 73-year-old grandmother died in 2006, not long after a worker at this dialysis center failed to properly tape down a needle. scott lost almost a quarter of the blood in her body. >> to lose that much blood that quick, it shocked her body and never recovered. >> reporter: what barbara scott's family didn't know is that government data, not available to the public at the time, showed that this clinic had a higher mortality rate than most clinics around the country. in fact, a comprehensive report on that clinic recently obtained by the investigative group pro-publica rev
