this is some of the flash flooding that lisa had mentioned earlier. the rain started thursday and isn't expected to break any time soon. the heaviest totals predicted to fall here in the north bay where a flood advisory has been issued. there are issues in some areas, roadway flooding in lane one on highway 101 south of sir francis drake boulevard right here, and some ponding beneath area overpasses. now, our dry weather has transitioned to a storm system with the potential to bring up to 7 inches of rain. the drought we're experiencing now rivals the one we experienced back in 1975, but if current forecast holds, this pocket of heavy to moderate rain called an atmospheric river will last through the weekend. the moisture stretches all the way to the hawaiian islands. the bull's-eye of heavy rainfall will be right here over the bay area. right here in the north bay we could see as much as 3 to 7 inches of rainfall. again, we cannot help but notice how lane one of highway 101 have that flooding and that ponding. if you take a look at the cars flying th

lisa, what can we expect?g as to the fifth count they're saying they're not able to reach a verdict. the judge is doing what he's required to do, to give the allen charge, which essentially says please get back in there, there's not going to be another jury that's better than you so please, please try. if they come back out and say we're dead locked, that's it. then the state will have the option of retrying on the fifth count that they're dead locked on. >> carey, what's your sense of how long they will deliberate on this fifth count? >> it's been an exhausting couple of days for them. they'll go back in now with this allen charge. they have the potential of the judge saying because of the hour of the day, if they come back in let's say an hour, hour and a half and say, judge, we cannot come to a conclusion here, it is at the judge's discretion to sisay i want you to sleep on this tonight and come back tomorrow or he may look at the number of hours deliberated and say you know what, let's look at the other co

first of all, ptsd, as lisa mentioned, is very real.my former life i worked with veterans in our state capital and albany and veterans affairs community and worked with a lot of veterans who suffer from this and it impacts their lives in really horrific ways. that being said, ashleigh, this was not used as a defense to get out of it. it was used as what we lawyers call mitigation. what does that mean? it means in certain crimes when you go to sentencing there are aggravating factors, reasons you should spend more time in jail and there are mitigating facto s factors, reasons that serve as a basis for you serving less time in jail. and he's saying based upon the adrenaline and rush he did while in afghanistan and serving the country and to be home and laying on your couch, he needed that adrenaline rush. does it excuse the crime? absolutely not. but as lisa mentions might we be sensitive to the fact he was in combat and service and should the judge consider it, i say yes. >> the judge, you nailed it, danny, this is not a panel of neophyt
