lisa: it is a big week on many fronts. the state of the union on thursday, jobs report on friday, a talk from jay powell, morgan stanley came out with a paper saying fiscal policy is likely to be more important than monetary policy and explained he liked stocks because of the fiscal push but doesn't like bonds because that will be hammered by some of the growth and priced to perfection types of assets. do you think it's the fiscal that's driving a lot of the growth now and the future upside to some of the equities? liz ann: i would maybe replace a lot with some. i think the fiscal impuls -- impulse is there but wouldn't give it a lot of credit for strengthening the economy. consumption is 68% of gdp, so that will be the big driver. i think what is most important this week isn't the jobs report from the headline perspective, but the innards of the jobs report. to your point, lisa, the metrics like ours works the differential between the establishment and household survey. what you pick up in the household survey in terms of

lisa: the u.s. bias being equity focused. we were talking earlier about pimco quoting in a financial times article talking about how he likes longer duration bonds overseas. not in the u.s. because that strength is also coming with perhaps a stickier inflation going forward. do you agree? keith: we are more focused on the u.s. in some ways, as you invest overseas, there is also that currency component. you get the big kicker in the equity market and the fixed income market with overseas currencies rallying with the u.s. dollar weakening. the u.s. dollar is in a choppy range and maybe the fed being so much slower, we will keep that u.s. dollar so much supported, so we would prefer to just stick with high-quality u.s. bonds and most liquid bonds, and we are still even, even though they are in trading range, we still have the highest carrier coupon in terms of treasuries that we have seen in 15 years or so, so we would like to keep it simple and stick with the u.s. lisa: if inflation remained sticky for longer, if the fed is una

lisa: taking away from a couple of regions, are you talking about europe? seema: yes. lisa: why?ons continue to look attractive, that's not a new story. it is a value trap. fundamentals have to be in line with their valuations and they don't look like they are very promising for this year. there are other parts of the world to reach out to, latin america, india, japan with some ambiguity added to that. europe is not the area we are fixed on. lisa: i want to ask you about the splintering in the mag seven. do you agree we can see parity on the euro and not the dollar because there's this dissidents not recognized by markets yet? seema: i think the ecb has to move either way. i think they're going to cut rates, ideally sometime in line with the fed but if the fed is not moving, the ecb has to go because they have a difficult story ahead of them. it does pull apart the euro in the dollar. i wonder how aggressive the ecb can be. they would like to be more aggressive and they can only be more aggressive at the fed is cutting. jonathan: you think the fed affects the scale of ec because?

that's what lisa is asking. matt: some are in the position for higher interest rates, and because of that the longer end of the curve will see higher rates, if they let inflation run like this. in our view, yields are up on the yield curve. it's the longest inversion ever. the bond market is a mess just trying to interpret this. more inverted, that's the other side. we think they will take longer to cut, but it will be more than the markets expect, because something has to happen. got to be the adults, telling their kids to clean the room, but they are not right now. lisa: they are basically saying throw more things on the floor, we will get to it later. what gives you conviction that that is the path they are going to take if that's not the signal they are giving? if markets are running with that and not pushing back. matt: the stars in the sky, remember that analogy? if this is the neutral rate, why isn't inflation or the economy slowing? it's hard to say that they are being restricted with high yi spreads. th
