through her life so i am looking forward plus all of the others but as a little introduction of lisa adams it follows her from her romantic meeting of john quincy adams as it can be described. but it follows her to berlin and russia us then back to washington as the wife of a president. so one of the things i want to ask right off the bat is whether the fact the character's name drew you to the book? >> i do think it is true and probably noticed her a little quicker than if her name was jean. [laughter] but beyond that it was coincidence. when you are writing about historical figures you cannot assume you can step inside their head but you do need of crack of the window and for me publicly sharing a name publicly i don't know very many movies sell. [laughter] -- "louisa" so was a little bit of the window opener. >> my name had to do with who i became so defeat her indeed affected her personality? >> at the time it was more common than it is now. in berlin and everybody was named louisa. the duchesses and whenever and royalty so it wasn't quite the uncommon name and made a joke a few which

[applause]. >> hello everyone. thank you for coming. i am so happy to be here to talk about this book. also happy to be part of this book for louisa. if you like many other louisa's may have been chosen but i'm flattered to be the one. this book also is one of my favorite books that i have read this year. i'd love it very deeply. not just because of the pleasures of reading about someone with my own name, but also because i just found that as a biography it was more deeply invested in understanding the main character than any other biography i have read. i feel feel like this character louisa adams came alive for me and remains with me more than any other character in any book that i've read this year. i think luis it made so many fascinating decisions in this book, for me, the most interesting was the decision to explore the shifting of this character's mind, as much as she was exploring that

amy: that was lisa hines, her daughter wakiesha wilson died after police say she committed suicide. is that right? >> the family is very adamanteven the facts denied that she could have committed suicide. the allegation is that she hung herself from a phone booth that sits two to three feet off of the floor. so the idea that she could possibly hang herself from a phone booth is absolutely ridiculous. amy: and this was where? >> lapd detention center. it is really important we understand what this case is and what happened to wakiesha will probably happen to --wakiesha wilson, there's a document a conflict between her and a guard shortly before she was found dead. the family says she was not suicide or -- suicidal at all. they just spoke him with her easter sunday. they took four days -- and fact, it was only after the mother begins to look for her when she doesn't show up in court that they find that she was in fact dead. ae was the mother of 13-year-old boy. she is somebody's daughter. you know, she is our sandra bland that is emerging here in los angeles. amy: last comment? >> i think is very important here is an investigati
