lisa amin gulezian joins us now. lisa, do investigators know where the fire started? >> they are trying to figure it out. firefighter hads -- firefighters are doing one last check of the scene. they quickly spread up to the apartment. the things that made these apartments home to seven people are destroyed. the fire started in the kitchen around 6:30. it took a few minutes to burn the two-bedroom apartment. >> once they got going and they brought the contents of the apartment it broke through the windows and came up through the window of the upstairs. >> reporter: the two men in that apartment got out qekly. they quickly called others to help. >> i went outside and i see the other guy with the fire things turn it off. help me turn it off. >> he did more than that. he jumped into the burning apartment number 11 to see if anyone was trapped. luckily the family of five wasn't home and salazar made it out with a few cuts on his hands. the fire was out by the time regina and her family got home and saw what was left. a relative told me the itch cken stove has been malfunct
