lisa amin gulezian is live at the scene. what's the latest? >> reporter: the fire has since gone to five alarms and involves eight buildings. a little while ago firefighters handed out masks to everybody out here because the smoke is so thick and all they're attention right now, at least, is on this building behind me. the fire is believed do have started at karl hardware and then spread and jumped to the 3300 club, el taco loco and other buildings. there's a lot of smoke, and because of that, a shelter in place order for anyone within a five-block radius of here. firefighters have been checking on nearby st. luke's hospital to make sure folks are okay. this fire is not contained in within the last hour it spread to three more buildings here on 29th street. >> there's paint, there's chemicals, there's propane that is a definite concern for us as firefighters, for you as a community and second dave with the smoke going through the city, which is why we extended the shelter in place. >> reporter: again, there have been no injuries reported. fire
