it is wet outside and lisa argen is tracking the storm. >>> good morning. look at the north half of the north bay beginning to clear here but still a lot of rain across san francisco into the east bay. we're going to take you in pinole and hercules right now, tiburon and berkeley looking at moderate rain. further south, across the east bay into union city and also woodside, 280 looking very wet. this rain will continue to push to the south and the east and heaviest rain, anywhere from inch and a half when it's all said and done around the santa cruz mountains. we are looking heavier amounts around gilroy. we are looking a little more rain tomorrow but the front is pushing through quickly this morning and pattern change coming up. >> janelle: this soggy weather is impacting residents in san pablo. engineers have red-tagged one home and second is in danger of collapsing as the slope gives way. a soil engineer is due to perform more tests to see how saturated the slope has become. as you can see there is significant property damage to backyards decks, walkways

here is lisa argen. >> the next 12 hours we'll continue to see the rain pick up but it's going to beffshore by 8:00 tonight, poised to move onshore overnight. rain around the bay area and it continues to fall from the north bay, central bay and the south bay. this is the light to moderate rain but we are also looking at heavy showers embedded with a few thunderstorms around the bay area. so it is a soggy start to your weekend. we're looking at a powerful storm offshore. live doppler 7 hd shows a lot of rainfall out there this morning. let's take you in closer where the cold air has moved in since you were sleeping. a rain-snow mix, cobb mountain, take a look at the downpours here in central and southern marin counties from larkspur to san rafael. tiburon moving eastward into richmond. watch out hercules, berkeley getting light rain and look at the heavier showers on the peninsula moving just about cross 280 shortly into redwood city and possess ka dare oh as heavy rain. in the south bay, from around mount hamilton, you are looking at rain-snow mix and more embedded strong storms offs

lisa argen is tracking the storm.ith her. >> it's moving quickly through the east bay. here a loop. you can see a lot of activity pushing through 680 north of 580. so right now, west of brentwood, heavier down pour around walnut creek, 24, pleasant hill, back through berkeley, alameda and even san leandro some shower activity. a break on the peninsula but more rain headed. lighter showers, san mateo through 280 and down by mountain view a few wet areas but heavier rain north of scotts valley. boulder creek. santa cruz getting wet. temperatures are cooler this morning, we are looking at rain-snow mix around lake county. winter storm warning until 11:00 about 2500 feet. keep that in mind throughout the day today. look at the rain, a little bit of a break in the afternoon through the evening commute but here is the next storm, couple more to go over the weekend. >> good morning. it's going to be a challenging commute. we've got debris in lanes, water from overnight heavy rains and solo spinouts. daly city 280 approaching

let's check in with lisa argen. >> right now we've got pretty good rain out there. take a look at the east bay, oakley back through walnut creek and across the bay bridge, southern marin county, heavier showers and closer inspection shows lafayette looking at good downpours and orinda. further to the south, alameda, san leandro and castro valley, heavier showers are headed your way. the showers have been more scattered in the south bay but south of los gatos, ben lomond and morgan hill. this is a cold, unstable air mass. whatever heating we see from the sun we'll see more showers coming down from time to time. the air is cold and that is why we're looking at rain-snow mix. then the showers become more widely scattered this afternoon but we are looking at another storm system to come in the early part of the weekend. that will provide a washout for tomorrow morning. if you have any plans but by late on sunday, things aren't looking too bad. a dry and milder week takes over for much of next week feeling like spring. next couple of days, still pretty dicey. >> we've go

let's check in with kristine hanson, in this morning for lisa argen. >> good morning.e do have a soggy day around the bay area. we are starting to see skies clear a bit in the north bay, about half to three-quarter inches of rain so far this morning and we're seeing downpours in san francisco. it will be spotty shower activity. some of the heaviest rain is still in the east bay at this time just to the west, east of tracy. we've got rain up in concord, vallejo, 80 is clear at this point but 24 is busy. we're going to have snow and chain requirements in the sierra. we'll have the accu-weather seven-day forecast coming up. >>> a big rig crash in san francisco has the approach to the lower deck of the bay bridge virtually blocked right now. the chp says it won't be cleared up until 11:00 this morning at the earliest. a traffic alert has been on issued for the safeway truck. it's blocking three lanes of the lower deck. the front end of the rig is heavily damaged trapping the driver inside. caltrans is also dispatching crews in sand trucks because the big rig is leaking fue

let's check in with christine hanson in this morning for lisa argen. >> good morning, carolyn.e saw the rain start last evening in the north bay. we've seen about a half inch of rain now in santa rosa and areas north of 101, a quarter of an inch in the napa valley and a tenth of an inch right here in san francisco. some of the heaviest rain at 580. heaviest rain over berkeley hills and stretching all the way back into the avenues. we're going to continue to see rain throughout the day. some of this is turning to snow in the sierra where chains are required. i'll show you how that affects the end of your weekend with the first part of your work week. your complete forecast coming up in just a few. >> thank you, christine. well, the roads are slick this morning but it's not as cold as last weekend when black ice was a big problem for drivers. it's unclear if weather played a role in this accident. the chp is investigating in contra costa county. a fatal crash that involved at least five cars just south of camino diablo near livermore. the chp confirms one person died at the scene

meteorologist lisa argen is tracking the storm. let's check in with her. >> renewed worries about rises in creeks due to this moderate rain anywhere from 1/4 inch a half-hour to 1/2 inch coming down an hour because of the enhanced rain rates now with the fronts moving on through. take a look at the yellows here from the east bay moving into berkeley and richmond from southern miren county down to san francisco. 280 redwood city, pretty good cell has pushed down through and further south in san jose from the santa cruz mountains up through scotts valley and boulder creek, heavier rain. maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch already. we're looking at upwards of an inch and a half north bay mountains and the santa cruz mountains. a full look at the forecast coming up. janelle? >> thanks so much, lisa. this rain is affecting people in san pablo. engineers there have red tagged one hillside home and a second is also in danger of collapsing. as the slope slowly gives way after this week's storm. this weekend, a soil engineer is due to perform more tests

meteorologist kristine hanson is in for lisa argen. nice to see you. >> and you can see the clouds, it looks like it may be cool outside and mid to upper 60s, maybe 70 in some spots. so we have this moving you can tell it's coming in from hawaii. let's go outside. gorgeous day on the slopes. no problems getting up and down road wise. the snow is fresh and crisp and in the teens and 20s. and downtown san francisco, pretty day as i mentioned. we've got sunshine and a little bit of hazy visibility right now. but no visibility problems because of fog. we are seeing some high cloud cover just over the northern portion of the state. this system is what we saw later yesterday afternoon. throughout the overnight hours, you can see it's cleared out with a little bit of rain to the north of us around the california-oregon border. a few high clouds rolling in. 51 right now. in downtown san francisco, 52 in antioch. 49 fremont. 40s oakland, 47 in napa. overnight low of 48. 48 degrees in santa rosa. hard to believe with the cloud cover it's going t

here sitting in for lisa argen. >> we did expect this rain and it's been very mild.real light, damp rain. you don't need to bundle up this morning. very unlike the storm system we had a week or two ago. and this is the golden gate bridge. not too many people out yet but still wet and a steady downpour. especially north of san francisco. we also have some moderate rain right now, and that's occurring along 680, 580, 24 and even a pocket on interstate 80. let's jump in and see where some of the heaviest rain is. of course over the hills just around san ramon and mount diablo. and then you can see a little line of heavier rain on 580. if we go up 80, first of all 24 there's a little rain there and just a moderate rain before you get to the carquinez bridge towards san francisco. but this yellow indicates we're seeing -- not in the lighter areas just a trace of rain but up to a quarter inch an hour. so the rain will continue and at much higher elevations. so we have chain controls this morning on interstate 80 and u.s. 50 and we've seen about a half foot accumulation so

we have another big storm headed our way and let's check in with lisa argen. >> much colder air is behind around cobb mountain. further south, pretty good cells moving into san pablo and hercules. heavy downpours. within these downpours we could see embedded hail. off the coast. more light rain is beginning to move in to san francisco, daly city and it will be about the next 30 minutes or so, lighter returns around hayward, union city. we've had more rain around the santa cruz mountains, but this afternoon in to tonight, very confuse at this winds. a high wind watch in effect in the overnight hours where winds could gust to over 60 miles an hour out of the southwest. this is all ahead of our next storm system that promises to be on an stronger with soaking rains, anywhere inch and a half in the north bay to three inches up to five inches in the santa cruz mountains and nearly three inches in our east bay valleys, two and a half inches in the south bay. maybe two to three inches around the peninsula. so this is tomorrow. heavy overnight in to sun, rain will go getting going around the wind
