finish line. >> reporter: cornell bernard, abc 7 news. >> let' get a check of the forecast with lisa argen. hey, lisa. >> hey, liz. those winds will be setting up later on this afternoon for san francisco. so up to 30 miles an hour. getting breezy there. once again it's a different story inland. we're gonna see the heat arriving there. it hasn't been really very warm at all in san francisco for the summer, but we'll take it. we like it that way with that robust on shore flow. there's a look at the moisture that pretty much missed us yesterday. little bit of drizzle just due to that marine layer this morning at the coast. in the upper elevations, our smoke forecast continues to remain unchanged with the red indicating the very poor air quality from the pacific northwest to oregon to northern california to the sierra nevada. a little bit wants to push into the bay area yesterday. this is today into tomorrow. as we go down to the surface, it's better, of course, as we get closer to the coast. but still not ideal as we've been seeing some haze in the atmosphere and thus that's why we have that

we are going to get it over to meteorologist lisa argen. is supposed to make landfall in louisiana today. lisa: that's right, and we are tracking that for you with wind of hundred 50 miles per hour. gusts of 185, moving to the west at 15, pushing right into southeast room will louisiana -- southeastern louisiana. they built that huge levee system after katrina but it is all the surrounding areas around it and as it moves on end, it is going to bring nine foot storm surge with the possibility of tornadoes, damaging wind and the track takes it through the tennessee river valley which has been inundated with flooding as you know from the past couple of weeks. this area is very saturated, getting ready for a tropical depression as it weakens and moves up to the north. better news with low clouds and fog at the coast, read the wind later on today. high-pressure still in control but i weakening. that is an area of low preur brging cooler and cleaner air, so isn't this a gorgeous site to see? the low cloud deck pushing it over san francisco made s

for more on that let's get over to meteorologist lisa argen. >> hey, liz. lot of it has to do with high pressure building east of us. we have a clock wise flow around that high. that's bringing in some of that smoke. but also those winds are light. as the high builds in, our winds back off. those stronger on shore breezes will be reserved until next week. that's when we can expect a cooldown for our inland valleys. we have to heat up first.. we saw upper 80s. our upper elevations from oregon and as we look at the upper level smoke, you'll notice all the reds. that is an indicator of that poor air quality from nevada up toward redding. for the bay area and closer to the coast where we do have that marine layer, we do have better air quality. this is the surface smoke where the blue indicates that we are looking at the good air. the blue indicates that we are looking at the good air. upper elevations for diabore haze. some of that may mix down from time to time but overallav w an, just limited, in terms of that blue sky that we're used to seeing around here.

we have meteorologist lisa argen also tracking the hurricane from here, our kgo studios. are you seeing on the radar? lisa: with the eyewall move into southern louisiana right now, we're looking at winds 115 miles per hour lashing parts of the coast there. the southern part of louisiana and worland. remember, they have that extravagant levy system there, but this will impact not only louisiana but mississippi, alabama. as it is a category 4 right now, it will stay a category 2 as it moves in. moving from of 150 miles per hour to 100 miles per hour in the next few hours. that would bring in a lot of rain. we are talking anywhere from 10 to 15 inches of rain. the impacts go through tonight. the storm surge is already six feet above the ground there. you know it is below sea level in new orleans. the path takes it through the tennessee river valley with heavy rain and wind for middle and western tennessee. by the time this is all done and the impacts lightened up overnight tonight, we could have 12 to 14 foot storm surge. local clouds and fog over 1000 feet. at the golden ga
