meteorologist lisa argen is tracking the forecast. we are talking about. of course, the snow there and the weather here, whether we're going to see the fireworks. so let's get to all of that. lisa, i know you're tracking all of it in the weather center. >> we have good news and we have maybe not. so good news. the good news is that the next system is going to be cold. so we will see about a half a foot of snow, not only for the tuesday, wednesday system. there's another one. the end of the week. and the not so good news is that there's a system that's going to miss us offshore. but it may bring in a stray shower for new year's eve. so keeping skies cloudy today and that shower chance alive, although it's only a couple of hundredths that we're talking about for your sunday new year's eve live doppler seven showing you the pacific stacked up pretty active and we'll continue to see the storms move on in. and they're going to be pretty generous. a good soaking rain tuesday and wednesday, but a big break for another system to arrive. the end of the workweek. so

but first let's start with a quick look at the weather with meteorologist lisa argen. i just said december 23rd. i can't believe we're this close. >> i know, and then i was talking about new year's eve. the last couple of days of the year. it's like, wait, what? yeah, it is on us, upon us right now. and in fact, it's going to get interesting weather wise as we go through the last week of the year. so satellite and radar shows high pressure in command yesterday. boy, was it mild out there starting this morning with a quarter mile visibility in napa that continues to decrease in our east bay. so perhaps some fog there in the next few hours. right now, 42 in livermore, 50 san francisco and numbers are chilly from the upper 30s in our inland valleys. and that's a lot colder anywhere from 5 to 7 degrees colder around the bay than yesterday. bright and sunny today, mid 50s by noontime. the winds will be light offshore and that will bring us up into the 60s. for many of us, just a few degrees above average. and we'll talk about a little bit cooler, but still looking dry for c

we have meteorologist lisa argen tracking the rain today. isa, i know you have been really looking at all of the radar and everything. how is it looking right now? well, we have a little bit of a break out there. we had a wave move through earlier and overnight out picking up anywhere from a couple of hundredths to maybe a quarter of an inch for parts of the east bay. there's a look, a live doppler seven. most of the activities in the pacific northwest, we go in closer, our sweep on top of mount saint helena shows a few scattered light showers. penngrove napa. look at salon. the peninsula. not much at all. down through saratoga highway 17 an so you can see the loop since the overnight hours and this little wave has since moved on through and with it bringing some fog and the mild temperatures with the south winds, there's a look at the reduced visibility a quarter of a mile in novato over two miles in san carlos and look how dark that looks. 53. san francisco and san jose 55 half moon bay. emeryville gray skies, low 50s for everyone and our 2

i'm gloria rodriguez and lisa argen is here this morning. lisa it was raining a lot yesterday. today. is it going to be raining again today? yeah. well you know we've downgraded the system. >> we're behind it now. it's a level one. so we are waking up to scattered showers. pretty widespread. you can see all across the bay area, but we are definitely behind the system. and so looking at still some heavier downpours in spots as we take you right now down to daly city and you can see some returns there from 82 brisbane, south san francisco and also across the bay and into mill valley, marin county, 580 over into richmond and some wet weather. lagunitas on the coast. and you can see also. highway one from pacifica to pescadero. some showers working their way into the san mateo coast, and finally from saint helena, santa rosa scattered showers. so we will certainly be looking at this level one system throughout the morning hours. after about 9:00, things really do wind down, but we're still left with the rough surf. the chance of a thunderstorm form. and here's some fog from livermo

meteorologist lisa argen is here tracking a light level one storm this morning. and lisa, i know the roads were wet this morning when i drove into work. yeah. >> and i had to use the wipers. so certainly, depending on where you were, this system is on the move. and as we look at live doppler seven, right now, you can see all the cloud cover and some of the green as we go in closer, you'll notice that it is widely scattered from san francisco over into the east bay, very light return as most of you not seen anything at all. and the northern extent of it off the coast there near davenport port. so this is a light level one system with intermittent scattered showers throughout the day, bringing the slippery roads and some low visibility. at times. the winds out of the south keeping it mild , low 50s here looking at 53 in hayward and san jose and that's significantly warmer than we were yesterday, about ten degrees warmer at this time. so a live look outside a dark exploratorium camera. so we'll keep it cloudy throughout much of the day. and with the isolated shower c

here's meteorologist lisa argen good morning, lisa. hey, gloria. >> good morning to you. it is freezing cold in the north bay. temperatures dropping down into the low 30s. we have a freeze warning until 10:00 for the valleys of the north bay and kurt satellite picture shows all the rain to the north. so we'll talk about the cold, cold temperatures. 34 napa, santa rosa with 38 in livermore, 33. san ramon 36. palo alto, it is 46in san francisco. and our 24 hour temperature change 3 to 4 degrees colder for you in concord in oakland and novato and the temperatures will continue to drop for the next several hours. so from marin, sonoma and napa, the coldest spots here just like yesterday day and as we go through the morning hours, we're still in the upper 30s inland by 9:00. elsewhere around the bay in the 40s, even at the 50 at the coast. so wide ranging temperatures, sunshine warming us through the 50s by noontime time. upper 50s a lot like yesterday for the afternoon today, but we'll talk about slightly warmer, low temperatures and warmer high temperatures and see if we can

it is saturday, december 30th i'm gloria rodriguez and meteorologist lisa argen is tracking the wet weather. lisa i know got a little rain this morning when i was driving into work. did you also a little bit. >> but you know, since it happened last night, many people wondering did it really rain? as hard as we expected? well, we are down to a level one right now behind the system. so this is what we call the post frontal showers. and you can see we've got some heavy downpours right along the coast and offshore from highway one. pescadero montara, half moon bay and on the peninsula. they are scattered from south san francisco. the sunset taking you further to the north. marine county up through petaluma and santa rosa. cloverdale and out towards fairfield, looking at scattered showers. the wetrillionoadways and into the east bay. 580 berkeley a little bit wet, but for the most part we are looking at the conditions to improve throughout the day today. level one system still the rough surf, the flooding on the roadways, scattered showers, coastal flood warning, high surf warnings 17ft breakers

abc seven news meteorologist lisa argen is here with the timing of the next batch of rain coming in. lisa. >> yeah, we've had some nice breaks out there, but it's time for more rain. we need to catch up and as we look out into the pacific, a very strong system there, bringing some high surf after the rain on wednesday. that will be a high surf warning on thursday. but as we get into the details here, it is a level one system. most of the energy focused in the north bay for the morning hours could be a little wet for the morning commute, and then it spreads to the south and east, keeping it wet and windy for the bulk of the day. tomorrow and then by thursday, we've got the waves to contend with and those dangerous conditions at the beach. so overnight tonight, 40s and 50s cloud cover, westerly winds keeping us milder. this is at 7:00 tomorrow morning. you can see the rain just in the north bay. by 11:00 it begins to sink to the south and east and scattered showers with us for the evening commute. rainfall amounts aren't going to be particularly high. we'll talk about those in just a mo

i'm gloria rodriguez and meteorologist lisa argen has been tracking the wet weather as we head into the new year. so that's the big question is it going to be dry tomorrow for the fireworks? >> we are looking at progressively drier weather. in fact, even today our level one system lasting throughout the morning hours, you can see the line of showers really focused from the san mateo coast, the peninsula. they're over into the east bay. so marin and sonoma, still some isolated showers, but the heavier rain. check it out. south of whipple road, moving into union city 8-80 paseo padre parkway and newark. getting the wet weather and westward onto the peninsula. there uh. it has been wet in san francisco, burlingame now, and down towards woodside, los altos hills. the scattered showers and up in the north bay a little bit quieter. some peeks of sun. we are looking at our level one system with scattered showers, thus high surf warning and the coastal flood warning through 2:00 and this will all be winding down later on today, but very dangerous out there with over 14ft right off point rays ri

let's get started here with meteorologist lisa argen. , lisa, i went outside and i was just so cold. i had to get the big jacket out today. yeah >> and if you wait a few more hours, you'll be scraping the car. the frost forming. not yet, but probably now in some areas. by the time i left, it was still just liquid out there and cold. the look of the jet stream well up into the pacific northwest. and boy, we want some rain. not happening. but check it out right here. 35 degrees in napa with temperatures likely to drop even further. so highlighting napa, but look at santa rosa, 33 degrees, 30 nevada, we are 33 in san ramon with 35 in concord, 38 livermore. so a little colder in spots from the north bay to the east bay, 3 to 7 degrees colder in our freeze warning until 10:00 this morning. like yesterday antomoow as well. so we are under a dry, cool air mass. we will warm up though rather quickly into the mid and upper 50s by noontime. the winds are going to be light, so we'll see a few 60s as well before the numbers slide back into the 50s. b

for all the details, let's get to abc seven news meteorologist lisa argen standing by. i don't know if that haziness is because of the air quality. >> lisa well, you know what we are under a spare the air alert that you said because we don't have a lot of mixing, we are anticipating better air quality with the return of some rain tomorrow. in fact, several chances of rain as we get through the rest of the week and the final days of 2023. so as for your wednesday, we'll get back into moderate air quality. so going from unhealthy to moderate and then by thursday the rain is ending and we get some good air quality around the bay area. live doppler seven right now showing you all the clouds offshore and we're going to see a system that is relatively weak move on in here tomorrow. so it's a level one on our storm impact scale. scattered showers, some isolated downpours and gusty southerly winds. so it will be returned to some slick roadways and it will impact your morning commute for the north bay and your evening commute for the south bay. but this moves out of here. we have

meteorologist lisa argen is here. lisa. all right. >> well you guys, it will clear out the air, the rain, because we have some wind to accompany it. and actually, it's also going to keep us mild overnight. those southerly winds. here's a look at our air quality in the next day or two. becomes moderate tomorrow with the rain. and then by thursday, even. good when we're behind that system. so here's the system heading to the north, bringing a lot of surf, some dangerous surf, and some moderate rain. at times the focus in the north bay tomorrow. so level one system on wednesday, scattered showers for the morning commute in the north bay, spreading south and east throughout the day. winds up to 30 and 35 miles an hour. tonight you'll notice that we're not dropping off that much 50s 40s. as you get early towards the morning commute. and by 7:00, the rain is in the far north bay. here we are at 11:00, sinking to the south, marin county into napa, and we're going to track this high surf. this is a huge system that is going to brin

here's meteorologist lisa argen and lisa, we've been talking about it all morning. chilly out there today. >> yeah, we went out there and we were surprised. i was surprised. it's really cold out there. temperatures have certainly begun to recover in parts of the bay area. but starting with live doppler seven to show you where the rain is, the storm track and jet stream just doesn't want to budge out of the pacific northwest. so we are left with cold, dry air. 47 san francisco not too bad, 40in oakland. that's cold with low to mid 40s from san mateo, san jose and hayward. half moon bay, 50 degrees. what a gorgeous view here. and you can see the north bay number still freezing. our freeze warning for another couple of hours. but already turning a corner. we were 28 in petaluma, so 30 sure, that's cold. 32 freezing, 35. fairfield, 37in concord. so some of you are colder. but look at hayward and livermore, 3 to 7 degrees, milder and we will be looking at the temperatures coming up through the 50s even low to mid 60s by 3:00, 4:00 here already dropping into the 50. glori
