lisa colagrossi was a reporter and anchor at our abc station here in new york city, wbac. she was a devoted mom, a proud hockey mom. she died suddenly just moments after her report riding back in the news van and telling her photographer "oh, my god, something is wrong," and then collapsing. she never regained consciousness, and she was just 49. the tributes have been pouring in from loyal viewers and all of us who knew her. but there have been many questions from families across this country who have been through this. 30,000 people suffer ruptured brain aneurysms every year. let's get to dr. jen ashton tonight who has been looking into this with our medical team. and you were telling me, this can happen when you are very young. the typical range, 30 to 60 years old? >> reporter: for rupture, that's correct. what this is, david, is, it's a weakening in the wall of the blood vessel, the artery. it can happen in any artery in the body in fact. and as that wall balloons outward, it can rupture, causing hemorrhage. about 50% of those that suffer a ruptured brain aneurysm die.
