well let's bring in lisa lois joining us from paris on stay on the story lisa can you tell us more about what was behind the decision to take the patient off of life support. well it's been a long. battle between 2 sides of the family the parents who were opposed to letting him go and letting him die and then the wife who's been fighting since 2013 for his right to die really now what happened is that after his car crash he went into a deep coma and then came out of it a few years later and was in a state of minimal conscience as the doctors call it and that one point in 2013 apparently the doctors realized that his body was somehow reacting to the treatment refusing it they thought so that's when they stopped the treatment based on a law here in france that prohibits euthanasia but allows for passive euthanasia now 11 years after his accident finally the court case that the court paris court decided that this person could effect of lee actually be taken off life support that means that the doctors could stop feeding and hydrating him ok why was this decision taken now can you tell us so
