lisa miller and thank you for that.'donnell has repaid the college suing her and then gotten that lien removed by the judgment by the irs removed and just getting news in now. associated press is reporting that new hampshire has now certified kelly ayotte as the winning of the party of the u.s. senate and faced a challenge from a tea party candidate, it was a very narrow victory. you can see there, less than 1.5%, i believe, if i'm sort of -- no. more than 1.5% there. there was a question earlier today talking to anyone officials whether it goes into a runoff and a ballot challenge but looks like now the associated press is declaring her the victor. we had a big night last night, a lot of these primaries, so let's discuss it now with democratic strategist steve mcmahon and republican strat jik ron bonjean. you were sitting here through my interview with lisa miller. what is your sense about that with christine o'donnell? is she a flawed candidate or really represent what are the angers and fears of so many voters out th

in alaska, joe miller beat senator lisa murkowski. but he did more than that. he ended a three-decade family dynasty. lisa murkowski's dad was a senator from 1981 until 2002. then he was in utah, mike lee emerged and incumbent bob bennett was ousted. he was seeking his fourth term though he originally promised he would serve two terms and then he quit. he served 18 years. kentucky rand paul defeated republican establishment favorite trey grayson. paul won with about 59% of the vote. the tea party is a force. when has something like this happened in politics before? can you remember a time? i can't. it is amazing. no matter how much money, no matter how much the media throws over and over and over again, the tea partys grow bigger and bigger in the media and the politicians in washington don't see it. i don't know why i'm surprised. lisa murkowski narrowly lost the g.o.p. nomination to tea party favorite joe miller. is morning. julie kirtz is live with the latest. how did lisa murkowski explain the decision after she lost to go after the nomination and bam write-in candidate? >> she said she is not undermining the republican party with her write-in race, so she is pushing ahead, she said with her decision to run as a write-in and pushing to the center, by the way, as she tries to keep her senate seat. she is already trying to raise money. she had a rally in alaska. had a conference call with supporters yesterday. she is taking on, of course, tea party favorite joe miller. the message today on national television boils down to this. miller, she says is too radical for action and she says outside tea party activists conducted a live smear campaign on his behalf. here is murkowski. >> you had the tea party express, the california based group come in at the end minute in a campaign and run a mud-slinging smear, just a terrible, terrible campaign. with lies and fabrication, and they came in and dumped

lisa murkowski has not taken that loss well. after refusing to endorse joe miller or do any sort of republican unity events she approached david hassy, the libertarian candidate in alaska to see if he would give her his line on the ballot so she could retain the seat as a libertarian. he said no. then two days ago murkowski's office said she would decide by today whether to run a write-in campaign for her own seat. here it is friday but the four-hour time difference between the east coast and anchorage means we don't officially yet know the answer. that said there are reports this hour when the alaska republican senator reveals her big decision she will be announcing she's going to run for re-election as a write-in. that means her name will not be printed on the ballot but will try to get alaskans to vote for her by spelling out m-u-r-k-o-w-s-k-i when they go to beat. this might be great news for scott mcadams. if the other split the center right and far right vote that could pave the way for mcadams to win. possible. except nate silver of the 538 blog at the "new
