our report from our senior investigative correspondent, lisa myers. >> reporter: it was supposed to be the air force's revolutionary new computer system, to track everything from planes to spare parts to bombs to winter refueling tanker. in need of maintenance. the expeditionary combat support system. the idea was to save billions of dollars by combining 240 existing computer systems, some from the '70s, into a single system, for buying and managing everything. instead, after seven years and $1 billion, the air force has pulled the plug, stating the program has not yielded any significant military capability. senator john mccain wrote the pentagon, calling it one of the most egregious examples of mismanagement in recent memory. >> $1 billion has been basically totally wasted, with nothing to show for it. >> reporter: just flushed down the drain. >> flushed down the drain. >> reporter: you know, a lot of americans remember that infamous $600 toilet set. is this even worse than that? >> i don't mean to make a joke, but at least they got a toilet seat. out of this, they got nothing. we go

senior investigative correspondent lisa myers reports. >> baltimore police are trying to identify aboutwho practiced object stet striks and gynecology at johnss hopkins. he was found dead at his home, an apparent suicide after being accused of photographing and videotaping patients. >> it is unbelievable. >> jessica was levy's patient for 11 years and says she felt very close to him. >> i am very confused. if i could speak with him, i would tell him he broke my heart. he broke my trust. >> police say they uncovered an kbreerd amount of evidence in levy's home removing computers, hard drives and servers full of images. >> we understand there is an extensive amount of photographs and video recordings that show patients in various states of undress and examination. johns hopkins says levy got caught off a fellow employee was suspicious and alerted security. the hospital notified the police and suspended levy. words cannot express how deeply sorry we are for every patient whose privacy may have been violated, the hospital said. his lawyer emphasized that he was never chargedes with a crime.

lisa. good morning. >> hey, bill. good morning, everyone. president obama is speaking at the armed forces farewell tribute today in honor of defense secretary lienon panetta. he will be at joint base myer henderson at 4:00 this afternoon. this is the formal goodbye for panetta stepping down from his position. yesterday, he testified over the attacks in benghazi where he revealed there was no advanced warning for those attacks. he said that factor plus the time and distance involved prevented the u.s. military from reaching the consulate before four americans were killed. panetta also confirmed he personally broke the news to president obama the night of the attack but that the two did not speak the rest of the evening as the assault continued to unfold. the president had told panetta to do whatever he needed to do to protect our people out in benghazi. today, house democrats wrap up their annual retreat with a little comedy. stephen colbert is speaking to the caucus thanks to an invite from nancy pelosi. after his comedy routine, pelosi will interview colbert in front of the house democrats. a spokesman said they assume this is colbert's attempt at a little bi-partisan. bill clinton wi
