joining us "right this minute" via skype are simon and lisa thomas.ll me how you got yourself out of that predicament and what were your injuries? >> the injuries, i didn't know at the time, were a broken and dislocated neck. i was paralyzed on my left-hand side, blind in my left eye and literally a case of get up and get moving or sit down and die. there was no brave choice because there was no choice. it was a three-week ride where i used the word ride loosely to get from where we were to a hospital. nobody was coming to get us. we got ourselves into that situation. it was up to us to get ourselves out. >> tell us about the people you've met along the way. >> our experience the world over has been that people generally are warm hearted, generous, hospitable and often the people with seemingly the least are the ones that want to help and support the most. it's humbling. >> is there an end to this journey. >> another year and a half, two years. >> that's what i'm telling everybody. i'm adding things and changing the route here and there. might be two
