lisa thomas-laury has the story. >> we think of shoulder injuries happening to baseball or football players but they are more common in women especially those over age 40. when she is not at her nursing job, mary conti loves being with her grandchildren but last year activities with her grandkids and lifting and twisting her right arm left her nearly dizzy with pain. >> i felt like there was a knife in my shoulder. dr. ritz discovered a tear in her rotator cuff, the number one shoulder injury he sees, the rotator cuff is four muscles deep on the shoulder blade and it attaches on the top two-thirds of the arm those muscles keep the socket and the arm together but over time they can wear out. construction workers and baggage handlers are at risk and moms put years of stress on their shoulders. 90% of the time physical therapy and heat alleviates the problem but sometimes in mary conti's case they need surgery. dr. catskatzcatskatz putting the shoulder back in place and six months later she is back having fun with the grandkids. >> it's nice to wake up without any pain. >> the doctor has tips
