the city of lisbon is not moving forward with linn county's minimum wage increase. tonight, the lisbon city council passed the first reading of an ordinance to opt out of the higher wage. the council needs to pass it two more times to make it official. the state minimum wage is seven-25 per hour. but earlier this year, linn the wage will go up by a dollar a year until it reaches 10-25 an hour in 2019. one business owner in lisbon says the issue is important for people who depend on minimum wage jobs. so she would have supported a small increase, but not one that's too substantial.
