[bell rings] assuring san francisco's future as a livable waterfront city. thank you very much. >> thank you. michael, tony, dave, don, and billy. >> hello. my name is darcy. i will be brief. i am the mother of a teenage son who has been a long time camper and later jr. counselor at the camp. i have heard people discussed the fact that the campbell goalie and it will be compromised. i did not see that at all. my son and i reviewed the plans. he was quite ecstatic, noting the addition of more green space and recreational areas. quite frankly, when we were there, we did not see a lot of people using the tennis courts, so he will not miss that. we both felt strongly that this makes such a nicer contribution to the city. we always felt guilty taking up this duty for ourselves. we are excited to see the addition of the green roofs and of these beautiful things that will be added to the waterfront. we will continue to enjoy the camp and now in more gorgeous waterfront. thank you. >> commissioners, michael, san francisco building and construction trades council. i

something that we don't talk a lot about, but in terms of making the city livable, every on 430,000 hours. they help us to operate more efficiently. they are also getting our kids to become park stewards, and by getting their hands dirty, they take a vested interest. i know that you grew up here and spent time in the neighborhoods. i think you were a member of my staff at one point. i think all three of you appreciate how important it is to volunteer and get your hands dirty. we believe it has an impact on the decision by kid growing up to stay in the city. we just kicked off a program where we are working with teens and giving them a monthly stipend. they will get a monthly environmental education in storage chip program. those are some of the strategies we have been using to keep families happy and thriving. in 2005, did a pretty study of determined that we woul have 35 soccer and 30 baseball and softball meet demand as it was in 2005. it was growing significantly. we needed the 30-35 more, we have about 80. we are seeing significant growth in terms of the youth sports teams. we have se

keeping streets clean, businesses, supporting small businesses, maintaining and making sure the city is livableor everyone. no one really looked to their neighbors. they stayed within their neighborhood, but did not reach beyond the boundaries. that is one thing i saw that i actually made a concerted effort on the campaign to build bridges. for me, that goes beyond the neighborhood. it goes to connecting the southeast to the large part of san francisco, wake up, we're out here. we want bike paths, dog parks, open space. we no longer want to have a neighborhood or a reputation of a crime-filled community. the other thing that i learned is really, we are all human. how to connect with that spirit, whether you're living in public housing, owning your own property, your asian, african american, we are all one. we are a community. when we realize and move in the direction of being a human's and having this human experience, connecting together, really be each other's keeper, then san francisco begins to drive. i also learned through the endorsement process -- you go through this process to get endor
