livermore now at 81. morgan hill at 83 degrees, and, looking at our high temperatures today, it is still going to go up. and up to 102 degrees in gilroy today. the seven day forecast is now up at the bottom of the screen, milpitas will see a high of 96 degrees. concord, 106, oakland, 84 degrees and the peninsula going to see those high temperatures in half-moon bay up to 71 and 90 in redwood city. san francisco, edgeleside at 70 degrees and napa, high of 97. so as we look outside live, in pleasanton, it shows that we're only at 81 degrees, but look at the high temperature today. it is still going to go up at least another 20 degrees today. and we'll be feeling those triple digit temperatures by 2:00 today, so we only have a couple of hours and going to see those temperatures rising significantly with all of this low humidity and dry air, up to 104 degrees at 4:00 today and even at 7:00, we're still in the 90s, that is after sunset, and into the mid-80s later on this evening. and then as we go into the day

we cannot even get to it which is why we are in downtown livermore. first i want to point out that the temperatures on the thermometer outside of the bank in downtown livermore is 65 degrees and pleasant. we don't expect it will stay that way with temperatures expected to get much higher in livermore, as high as 108. the heat will add an additional challenge to the firefighting efforts in the minds fire -- mines fire off of the mines road, eight miles south of livermore. it is steep and rugged terrain making this challenging. you can see them dousing the flames and 44 acres have burned in the steep hills and only 20% can tame. -- contained. it started on miles road and there are several fire departments working with the alameda county fire department to put out the blaze. we hope to get an update on the overnight progress on the mines fire. >>> it is 6:34 am. >>> in texas rescue crews continue to use the boats to get to those stranded by the flooding. the coast guard, texas department of public safety and citizens say the streets are improving but cov

abc 7 news reporter matt keller live for us in livermore. matt? >> reggie, in the past hour or so police are taking down some of the crime scene tape so we're able to get a closer look of the home where all this happened. last night you can see that the home is severely damaged by fire. it all started last night and then it all ended with officers opening fire, killing a man armed with a shotgun. residents at sun valley mobile estates in livermore say this place is normally quiet. however, last night was not normal. [ gunfire ] >> reporter: livermore police officers opened fire just before 11:00. a man described by neighbors as a longtime resident and postal employee was dead. before the shots, a standoff. police were called here about two hours earlier. >> apparently that subject was challenging people to fight. the first officer who arrived on the scene found the subject and he was armed with a rifle. >> all i heard was put the gun down, sir, put the gun down, and my neighbor said don't worry. i'm not going to hurt you. i'm not going to hurt you

behind me you see the livermore police there. we're getting more daylight wro you can see where this took place on that block. we do know that the suspect was reportedly accing in an e-radek fashion even telling people to shoot. we were told he retreated into a mobile home when police arrived and then we show what you happened at that point and that cell phone video you guys are look at right now, we're being told the suspect decided to right there mobile home on fire. now akoirgd to the livermore police they said they tried to negotiate with this armed suspect even using a crisis negotiation officer for more than two hours and that started just before 9:00 p.m. last night. the suspect was said to be firing several shots from inside his home while make a suicidal statement. they said he paikd walked out of the home shortly after the fire was lit hold a shotgun and that's when officers fired shots at him. we nope was pronounced dead on the scene and here's officers explaining why they fired shots at that man. >> still really early
