time is 405 in livermore. the investigation continues into a deadly crash that claimed the life of a long time owner of a winery. 59 year old mitchell katz, who owned mitchell katz winery, was rushed to the hospital friday afternoon where he later died from his injuries. police say katz was driving his suv on east avenue when he collided with a subaru while changing lanes. now the investigation continues. the driver of the subaru is cooperating. a busy stretch of interstate 80 in the east bay has reopened and now caltrans reopened. all eastbound lanes of the freeway in contra costa county early this morning. that's several hours ahead of the 5 a.m. deadline. the closure began friday night to begin that big repaving project. the shutdown involved all eastbound lanes of interstate 80 from highway four in hercules to the coming skyway in crockett. crews ripped up concrete and poured new slabs. caltrans says the goal of this massive highway project is to give drivers a smoother ride. the ride quality is going to b
