livermore, by the way, expected to reach 107 today. 101 is the record high for this date in livermoreso that has been tied already. so let me move along and just show you a couple other things that play in to this heat wave. so high pressure obviously the controlling factor in our weather right now. and we have heat alerts. in effect the heat advisory is indicated by the orange color. so you can see how many areas are under the heat advisory in effect until 11 p.m. tomorrow. more concerning. more serious is the excessive heat warning, which is indicated by the areas in red and that covers the bay shoreline. all of the east bay, including the hills and the inland areas. parts of the north bay, virtually all of the peninsula and santa cruz mountains down into the south bay, and during this period of time under this excessive heat warning, high temperatures will range from 92 or 90 3 to 105 degrees and higher. now we are fortunate that the winds are as light as they are a stronger offshore flow would increase fire danger significantly. there are already high fire concerns, but no no red

livermore and san jose broke records. the fact we got to 95 in san francisco, the reason we do have excessive heat warnings and heat advisories in effect through tomorrow as well, because this heat is not going anywhere for the next 24 hours. like i said, livermore, you did break a record high. 101 this afternoon, along with concord, although concord's high was 102 as the record. no records there. but still within a degree or two. san jose, 98 degrees, that is also a record breaker. san jose has seen record-breaking high temperatures since monday of last week, and it's likely going to stick around through tomorrow as well. let's take a look at the big picture and wondering why all of this crazy heat has been happening. let's take a look at what we're seeing right now from space. because space picks up what we're seeing on the ground at the surface. the lack of cloud cover signifies an area of high pressure. so a big area of high pressure sitting over the west coast of the united states, and a way that you can see that hig

we got up to one of the hottest in santa rosa, 109 gilroy, 107, livermore 108. walnut creek 105. stanford 104. san jose 104. san francisco. down a little bit from yesterday at 91. when you compare it to the records, we again got into those records for concord livermore also in santa rosa, with that 109 beating the old of 102 set back in 2012, san jose, that 104 really smashes the old record of 96 set way back in 1980. and for a lot of these cities, 1980 really was the last time it was this hot, this time of the year. so tomorrow we keep this hot area of high pressure with us. overall numbers are going to stay pretty hot here throughout the bay area, even though i see them going down a couple of degrees. so we still have these heat warnings in effect throughout the bay area. wind variable 10 to 15. so we're not expecting any extreme wind. although as i've been telling you, this will continue to keep our fire danger elevated. so for tomorrow morning inland valleys, we're in the 70s, 4 to 6 a.m, and then we'll get up to 89 by 11 a.m. so it's a little bit better tomorrow. i think ove

yesterday, livermore broke a record for their daytime high. it was two days ago that san jose did the exact same thing. that's the reason why the national weather service has issued heat advisories and excessive heat warnings that last until friday. now, which is interesting because i'm looking at the national weather service very closely right now, and it looks like it might even get extended into this weekend, too, as these daytime highs continue to sit well above average. but for the time being, this isn't until friday. friday around 11:00. so the excessive heat warning, that's what you see in the pink right below me anywhere from the santa clara valley off into the east bay and stretching right back over into redwood city. we are dealing with some of the warmest weather we've seen on record here locally, and this is what our heat risk map looks like this afternoon. widespread. you notice we're in the high to very high category, which really what i want to stress right now is just this is a good reminder to take it slow out there continue t

i've got as fairfield at 97 degrees followed by livermore. 96. obviously that's very well above average in nevada just popped up to 95. but what we're not seeing as triple digit heat and hopefully will stay out of it today. just 70 degrees in san francisco. big difference around the bay itself. 76 in oakland still hanging on to a little more fair in san carlos and cupertino. san jose there about 87 degrees. but again, a step in the right direction. what we're looking out for here is that westerly flow to bring that marine layer. and you can see that we are getting a bit of a breeze going here in san francisco about 23 miles per hour sfo. and right now still kind of northwesterly. we should start to see this turn as we get later into the afternoon and evening. and so what that will do is help to usher in even cooler air and a little bit of marine layer so that tomorrow morning when we wake up, we see something. we haven't seen it all, which would be just a little bit of fog on the back a little bit. we'll talk about the rest of our 7 day forecast.

upper 60s for concorde, oakland, livermore.s are going to cool off a whole lot as we go through the night. most of us waking up in the 60s early tomorrow morning. with a lack of followed and the warmer jumping off point, temperatures will take off once the sun comes up. let's take a look at where we will end up. i tomorrow afternoon, temperatures are 20 to 25 degrees above average. it gets up to 102 degrees in san jose. 105 schedules and morgan hill. a lot of the records we are starting to know were set on october 1st, 2020. temperatures inland will be the hottest. 105 110 degrees. 103 in the peninsula in redwood city. 91% let's go. the device for oakland. at or above 100 degrees for most inland communities in the north bay. even into the mid-80s for bodega bay, pacifica, half moon bay. we will have the offshore wind not strong enough to significantly boost the fire threat but a strong enough to take the warm air and puts it to the coast and reduce the marine influence. temperatures are still going to be 20 degrees cooler along

we're bracing for more heat and 108 today over in livermore.t's what we're expecting as we head into this afternoon. so let's talk about that. let's talk about the impacts of it too. pg&e of course there's been power shutoffs throughout northern california because of the heat. we've also been dealing with an offshore wind that's one thing i want to start off with this morning. if you live along the coast you probably noticed it's well above average for us right now and we're not getting that relief that we usually get coming in from the pacific. it's because the winds are mostly pushing offshore from the higher elevated areas to lower elevated areas along the peninsula as we head into this afternoon. and as that air moves its way down along the coast, it dries and it condenses and that's the reason why we're dealing with 80s yesterday close to the 90s over into san francisco. throughout the afternoon hours and yes, this heat wave is sticking around for one more day. now we head over into inland areas, different phenomenons happen. just dealing

word is 97 or say livermore words. 99, fairfield, 97, you get the idea. but around the bay today, definitely some relief you see. it's 71 there in berkeley, not bad and up in the north bay. we've got some low 90's out there in nevada in sonoma. but hey, petaluma santa rosa, 86 87 degrees. that's welcome. that is a welcome cool down there. we've also got some interesting weather happening in the sense that we've had a little bit of tropical moisture rolling up now you look at this in a way, is that some rain coming our way? unfortunately, not really because it's not making it to the ground because we've got dry air out there exceptionally dry air out there. but you see a little bit trying trying sending a few clouds across, not see any lightning. that's a good thing but not seeing any rain from that either. this is why, because it hits this dry air on the way down. and you can see some of these numbers in the 20's for humidity, 8%. and that's gonna be the case as we go across the next 12 to 24 hours. these low relative humidities add to the danger of fire.

as we deal with 90s this afternoon, anywhere from concord over to antioch, livermore as well we continue to track south areas like san francisco and redwood city. sitting in the 70s. not bad but we still have 80s and 90s in the forecast throughout the santa clara valley. this afternoon as we are gearing up for some cooler weather right around the corner, day by day, we're going to get back down into the low 80s upper 70s throughout our inland spots by this weekend, with some more clouds rolling in too. right now it's picture perfect over san francisco with blue skies right now. we're going to continue to notice a similar trend throughout the afternoon hours. just a light blanket of clouds kind of tucking us in as we head into the overnight hours. tonight especially along our coastal areas. and that mixed with some gusty winds. that's the forecast for us today, right now we're still dealing with nice light winds, but areas like san francisco and bodega bay just around dinnertime hours tonight will get up to around 25 to 30 mile per hour winds as we head into the overnight hours. we're goi
