last tuesday vice president cheney's daughter liz cheney was reelected as republican from wyoming andsecretary pineta's son was reelected as democrat to california and that leads me to two quick questions up front. it's obvious that both you and yourot families have a commitmet to public service and mrs. cheney has a distinguished service, career as well as public servant and so my first question is why would you recommend public service for young people especially given the intensere scrutiny and even vote royal to which public servants are subjected, vice president cheney? >> well, sometimes you'll hear discussions by political families about how hard it is, how hard it is to work, to run for office, to put up with criticism and so forth and it's just been the opposite in my family. i have two daughters, one is now in congress, the other has a political consulting firm and my wife, three very strong women, when we get together we usually end up telling more stories about old campaigns as we started out i was fairly young when i started the first time but the kids were really little

she had been facing a challenge from liz cheney, the daughter of former vice president cheney. she is a defense hawk much like her father, sunday with a big name in republican politics, somebody could be a good fundraiser for the party. she will run for the number three position, which in the minority, is conference chair. the only other challenge we are seeing is to kevin mccarthy for the minority leader spot, him getting a challenge as we have known from jim jordan, the conservative freedom caucus leader. both men are very close to the president, so it will be hard for the president to weigh in on that race. the president was campaigning with jim jordan in the waning days of the election and speaks to mccarthy almost on a daily basis. but i think because of the way the internal votes are structured, all you need is a simple majority of votes internally and in a closed-door secret ballot election, i think kevin mccarthy will win that race. briefly, what is the timetable like in the house for leadership elections? when will we see the speaker election? >> republicans are going
