i think we'd all agree care the committee must be liza veterans do not have to wait too long or travel too far to receive care however from listening to our veterans and constituents still waiting too long to receive care we need to make changes to the choice program. our witnesses the inspector general and gao will test of a a -- testify him back up what our constituents have been telling all this veterans are waiting too long or community care and in many cases have been forced to managed care on their own. as dr. roe said it should never take 80 days to get an appointment in the community that veterans in need of mental health care and our elderly veteran should not be struggling to make their own appointments and coordinate complex care. care decisions should be made between the doctor and the veteran and the va should be there to make sure that veterans get a timely appointment make sure the doctor has the health care record and make sure the veteran isn't stuck with the huge medical bill after seeing that doctor. as va moves forward with this consolidation plan i hope we can take
