let's check the roads with liza battalones. >> lawrence, thank you. good morning, everybody. we have this accident in the milpitas area northbound 880 approaching great mall parkway. it's a two-car accident off to the right-hand side not too far from this picture. this is 880/237 in milpitas where both of those roads are still moving at the limit. it's also been a nice morning for local transit. all of our local trains, buses and ferry boats are on schedule with no delays for the bart system too. 880 through oakland, that's still a good option if you need to exit after hegenberger and drive to the oakland airport. we did have reports of a big rig accident northbound 880 at oakland that has been cleared up. all lanes are open and you can see from these live pictures the nimitz still doing really well. san mateo bridge westbound traffic is fine. more folks are out there. you can see that on the right- hand side of the screen. that would be the westbound drive leaving hayward heading into foster city. the golden gate commute trouble- free. visibility not an issue. southbound tra

liza battalones is going to fill us in on traffic now. quite the scenic route. >> reporter: yes. all you saw was red brake lights lots of cars. that's the scene right now with so many drivers trying to find their way home. chopper 5 has been up and out cruising the skies over the san mateo bridge. that has been one of the worst commutes we have seen in a very long time. still bumper to bumper traffic for south 101 leaving 380. stays slow to highway the 2. 280 continues to be a good option if you need to leave san francisco for the south bay. dumbarton bridge also looking good as an alternative to the bay bridge closure. now, the golden gate commute in marin county has been socked in with traffic. north 101 getting towards the golden gate still bumper to bumper from the marina district. you can see that slow traffic just a few minutes ago. 101 very slow heading to and through marin county and right here over at the bay bridge toll plaza, the only traffic you will see is the construction crews waiting to do what they need to do to reopen the bridge by tuesday morning. close by, wes

we are going to go to liza battalones right now and liza, i understand that that 101 commute is really a mess. >> reporter: that's been the worst commute for all these drivers trying to get home. expect one to two-hour delays no matter where you're headed. we'll go to chopper 5 right now. chopper 5 has been up and out live over the san mateo bridge where traffic has been backed up at least a one-hour drive time for south 101 leaving the 380 interchange leaving south san francisco heading through san bruno, san mateo. you can see our sensors are showing traffic at 17 miles per hour. it's all green on 280. if you need to leave the city and head for the south bay, pick 280 as your best bet so far. the san mateo bridge, once you get on the span looks like some of that traffic does pick up in that eastbound direction heading towards the hayward area. the golden gate commute has been a nightmare still a virtual parking lot leaving san francisco. that northbound traffic is backed up out of the marina district. your cross the golden gate bridge and -- you cross the golden gate bridge and traff

so if you are tweeting out there, beware. >>> let's get right over to liza battalones for new detailstraffic alert. >> we understand from the chp sunol grade still shut down northbound at 680 near andrade. it's a big rig carrying 66,000 pounds of mail which overturned. it's unclear whether it's lost its load of mail on the road. we certainly know that the chp thinks it's going to take at least a couple of hours to clear up this accident. so with all of those northbound lanes shut down, your alternates include 880 or niles canyon. you can see it is beginning to back up in both directions now of 680. the other traffic problem this morning an accident in martinez. eastbound highway 4 at center street you have an accident blocking the right-hand lane. in the silicon valley it has been trouble fro, still no big problems for 880 and 237. 101 looking good in san jose. mass transit wise our first bart trains left the yard on time. another great alternate to sitting in those backups on the sunol grade would be to take ace trains on time this morning. the bay bridge commute metering lights are

let's check the roads with liza battalones. >> it's tough out there. we have had problems leaving the altamont pass heading towards the dublin interchange. you can see all those red sensors there traffic very slow leaving grant line road stays heavy towards livermore valley. a stalled big rig still out there blocking a middle lane west 580 approaching livermore valley. so that's a hotspot. fortunately the south bay commutes have been trouble-free so far no major accidents southbound 880 going to be slow now as you leave the fremont area bound for milpitas. 237. the mass transit ride no delays for any bart trains so far this morning. muni, caltrain, and the altamont commuter express also in good shape. back outside the bay bridge toll plaza. it is stacked up beyond the 880 overcrossing. the metering lights were switched on a few minutes ago. so once you pass all the metering lights, traffic picks up across the upper deck heading into the city. the 580/680 commute is the hotspot backed up beyond the 205 interchange slow towards the dublin area so give yo

liza battalones has been keeping an eye on that for us this afternoon. liza. >> hi there, ken.still a rough ride out there. the good news is we are seeing some improvements for this friday getaway commute. we'll start off with pictures from chopper 5 over 101, to and through the peninsula still very crowded south 101 from 380 approaching highway 92. now, the good news, once you hit that highway 92 interchange it does pick up a little bit as you head across the san mateo bridge. westbound traffic fine at the toll plaza. but for that eastbound getaway over at the san mateo bridge, if we can go to a map i can show you that traffic has picked up. you can see that on the left side of your screen with very light traffic now for the san mateo span. the golden gate commute which has been a headache all day long, it's still very slow out there. in fact, park presidio's backed up towards golden gate park. that 101 drive leaving san francisco still clocking in at 70 minutes between san francisco and san rafael with very slow traffic heading across the richmond/san rafael bridge. and you c
