♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ >> hello, i'm llewellyn king, the host of "white house chronicle" which is coming right up, but few thoughts of my own. i am one of many journalists at the white house who are puzzled by president obama. we listen to him. we say he is very smart. he is very articulate. he handles himself well. and when he has left the room and we leave the room after a press briefing, we wonder what did he say? we start looking at our notes. what did he say? my feeling is that the president has achieved something unique. his presidency reminds me of somebody who gives a party and then comes as one of the guests, not as the host. there is some sort of disconnect. i think many of the problems come from bad advice. he intends to get enthusiasm and then to undermine his own enthusiasm for something. i will give you two examples, just two, but there are many. they are both in the energy field. one is the keystone pipeline. why did he do what he did with it to get the enmity of the oil industry but to provide an enormous cadrel for the republicans of the oil industry to beat him with. canada is going

i am llewellyn king. a few thoughts of my own -- there is a gold rush on -- a great, global gold rush because of the extraordinary high price of gold. it is higher than it has ever been in history. it is extraordinary, the demand for gold. uncertainty in a rich world has made the demand greater than it has ever been and there has always been demand for gold. unfortunately, as william shakespeare wrote, "all that blisters -- it is not gold." there is some environmental disaster making around the world because of the demand for gold and it is in the area of lose gold on the surface, primarily in rivers, but sometimes elsewhere. in rivers, they get it with a traditional pan, the sludge goes around, and any gold is at the end. if you have the possibility of getting a decent find, you go to a shaker's table, a primitive device in which a bucket of water, mud, and stone is put onto a table, and something like this will illustrated, up and down like that by human power. on the surface -- the gold is attracted or
