i am reapplying for the potion of local homeless coordinating board. when i applied initially and started by job i didn't realize what this is and all of the issues and challenges in san francisco. i am a formerly homeless person myself and i thought i knew the ins and out of the homeless and governing of the homeless community and man i didn't know qawt but i am learning it. i thought this thing -- my involvement would be two, three hours a month and that's turn into quite a bit more. seems like i am down here everyday in the homeless communities because i have so much interest and concern. i take a day like today and windy and cold and i went by several providers this morning and everyone is full. we have a problem in san francisco and i am sure chicago and detroit can say the same thing but we have a problem in san francisco and it's not getting better. i would like to see it get better. i spend time now trying to build a community. we are getting an influxion i call them immigrants but from other parts of the country and citizen it is and moving in

in terms of getting local workers on to local projects. here's an aggregation of the local work force hours. when i say aggregation it's an aggregation of all active in progress projects that we last reported and then the new contract bs that came into play so on an aggregated basis we're looking at about 20% of san francisco citizens and i've provided details of a break down of bay view hunters point, the shipyard, mission bay, transbay and others. for the bay view hunters point we're at 52% so it was lower this past quarter. bay view hunters point at 44.9. again, we -- i'm sorry, it's right under here so 44.9 so for hunters point shipyard it's at 44.9%. again, it's showing promise. we would expect that in the report that i'll have to bump up. mission bay, transbay, those are more of a challenge, i would say at 26 and 24% and in other areas at 25%. our goal is aggressive, it's at 50%. i want to say the city's local mandatory hiring program, the construction work force program, they goal is currently at 30% so from some of the other areas

more monday is circulated in local economy when people shop at locally owned merchants as opposed to the chains on the internet. it also keeps the diverse appeal businesses that tourists love and all the money that small businesses and locally opened businesses like mine make we respend in the local economy. finally, as a citizen, i see small and legacy business he donating to school auctions more than chain stores. i see them helping each other through networks like the small business network, the district merchants associations and i think this measure would keep san francisco much more interesting city instead of a solace town of chain stores. i do urge you not to take architectural significance into account. there are businesses that are in pretty mediocre looking buildings that are nonetheless integral to their communities. i think this is a great start. i would urge the city to do more still. but a a starting point, getting these businesses registered i think is a wonderful start. thank you for your time and go giants.
