the mayor appointed new members to the local business enterprise advisory committee to advice and make recommendations on development, implementation and monitoring, of the policies and practices related to the lbe program. the 14-member body comprises of the city staff and is chaired... and the meetings held on the first thursday of the month at cmd headquarters and the advisory committee has reviewed the data and discussed the threshold and interpreted the application of bid discounts for the sba, lbe firms and the members of the committee are truly committed to increasing lbe utilization on the city contracts, and within the confines of the admin code and i appreciate the work and dedication to the lbe program. you have heard about the local business enterprise, utilization tracking system or lbe uts and this is an on-line web, based system developed by the software and the track the lbe compliance on 14 contracts and supervisor chiu will be happy to know that this is one of our enterprise agreements that we got in place that the software is not only used by our contract monitoring

local business that can provide the requested services. a little bit about the san francisco lbe program and how it contrasts with ocii. of course, through city ordinance chapter 14b, there is a local business enterprise program, which is an evolution also of their minority business program. it does differ with the ocii in the sense that san francisco looks at different levels of contracting opportunities to try to be as broad and encompassing as possible, so what they look at are direct contracting opportunities with prime dbes where they offer bid discounts and also do microsmall business set asides. in the areas of sub contracting opportunities, what the city looks at is establishing sub contracting goals and those goals are set on a contract by contract basis. again, based on the availability, so the premise here is if there's no available dbe -- lbes, then a goal of even 10% would be meaningless because there's just not that availability. while the contract monitoring division with the city, those work with city agencies to establish goals and again, it fluctuates contract to contract. the city also defines in its effort to look at all possible contracts, they define them at three different level

>> the content monitoring division certifies local business enterprises so for san francisco it would be cmd. for alameda county as an example, they have a joint certification program that is shared with the city and the public works so we would use that if a firm was certified through that entity. again, we would accept it as long as it meets our revenue threshold. >> what's the relationship between a cmd type organization that certifies our our agency? is it a direct line? >> it's part of the city. the city's contract monitoring division that oversees their implementation of the admin code 14b. we certainly, from a point of view leverage their resources. it's twofold, the reason why we have now adopted other certifications as currently submitted in our sbe policy. it was staff reduction as a result of dissolution, but it was part of bureaucracy and permit streamlining as they're seeking to do business with the city. it is a process producing tax returns, filling out the same documents and paperwork. it made a lot of sense to rely on the city certification, but as mr. lee indicated t

monitoring vendor fair in 2013 and we got a lot of interest and got to interact with a lot of local business enterprises and our focus this year is on microlbes and you will see that in the next slide and we were doing a lot of out reach and focus on educating micros, to be primes because that is a problem, especially in the construction realm a lot are used to be subs and i will talk about that in a second and we conducted that public works, microlbe town hall in november of 2013 and we had a great turn out for that and following up ever since with the microto get them in the mix for the contract awards and i worked with the puc staff on avoiding bidding pitfalls and we did a workshop back in i guess that it was in april, and i believe. april, to talk about or do some education with the contractors on how to do bid document as a primary children's and so again that is some of the pitfalls that they do especially going from a subto a primary children's. and we are going to conduct another one this summer with the puc at the contractor assistance center and so i have been working with their team and also

beginning with the small business enterprise policy, it doesn't mirror the city of san francisco, but the intent is there in terms of encouraging and promoting small and local businesses. along with that, is the non discrimination and equal benefits policy. that o that of course is enacted in accordance to the city's 12b and c ordinances. the healthcare accountability policy, it mirrors the city's healthcare ordinance, along with the minimum compensation. what is different that i'd like to highlight are some areas in the work force aspect, as well as prevailing wage. the work force requirements, of course, has long existed with the redevelopment agency and ocii. it effectively requires implementation of work force hiring on private projects that does not exist with the city. and then also with the prevailing wage policy what was unique in this sentence is that we require our contractors and developers to pay prevailing wages where state law does not require it to do so, but that's a foresight of the prior redevelopment agency. i did want to mention that on june 10, 2014, the board of supervisors did adopt expansion of the local hiring ordinance to effective

business owner. i mentioned stale phone numbers. is that the chief problem? >> there are all kinds of local data problems. yext wants to get perfect location information in every hand with geo marketing software. an enterpriseld update a phone number or hours of operation during a hurricane and let people know what's open and when. it's small businesses and enterprises that kwus are us. >> high frequency data in that case. >> yes. >> there is nothing more frequency than going to yelp, calling the restaurant and it hasn't been a working number for years. >> right. we help folks find businesses. >> not just small business. i see you have 300 companies in the fortune 500 that you call companies of yext. a lot of them are big. what's stopping them from building the technology in house now or in the future? >> in cloud computing, basically you are seeing folks replicating functions happening internally at a company and making it better, faster, cheaper. that's our thing. imagine trying to keep one listing. imagine 5,000 listings updated across 50 sites. >> where is the funding going? >> to expand our oh customer base from 300 fortune 200 companies, we hope to get to a million locations in the next couple of year
