if you look at the impact of biking on the local economy, is even more extreme. there are many cities for which they have seen a significant boon to local merchants, businesses, the local climate, because of improvements in investment. if you look at portland, toronto, canada, if you look at valencia street coming here in san francisco, when you add bicycle lanes and parking, it helps the local economy. where are we going cu ? we established as a city to have 10% of our cities heckling by 2010. we are not there yet, but we are making significant headway. i believe it is a good time for us to set some goals. it is important because there are numerous plans we have in our city that are developed by our planning department, mta, tsa, other organizations, where we ought to embed a city goal. this will help drive city planning, budgeting, and will help us to figure out what is a more sustainable transportation plan. i think it is important now for us to think about what we want to look like when we are coming up on 2020. what does a 21st century san francisco transport

local hiring and the economy is booming but we need it now. we know that the locals san franciscoens who work on this local hiring jobs will spend their hard-earned dollars in san francisco. this spending will create even more economic activities and create more jobs to get san francisco back to prosperity. there are not any good reasons to adopt a local hiring legislation because local hiring is good for san francisco. it would turn more benefits to the taxpayer who pays for the project and san franciscoens will be proud to have participated in projects in our -- and build our own landmarks. local hiring is also green because the workforce will not miss -- have to drive from other cities to come to san francisco to work. there are many qualified workers in san francisco who can build our public works projects. there are no excuses for not hiring local businesses and local residents to do our job. i run a steel company. i hire 90% san franciscoens and we have built steel buildings, steel framing for st. mary's school, for local hotels, and loca

it began to float local economies. they did an enormous amount of work. they wanted millions of trees. i looked over into alabama across a great forest of trees that were 70 years old. they're planted in huge numbers. imagine the kind of wildlife that becomes. they did an enormous amount of work and when the war was here, there was ready to go fight. this was not what this was intended to do. there are a few statues. they built a lot of lodges and visitor centers. these are just beautiful. amount of landscapes of ccc. this is the park. they did the work in them. the civil works administration was short lived. it was to get the people through the winter. and it was under the administration of a remarkable social worker from iowa named hary hopkins. he was the forerunner of the wpa and the prototype for it. this is a page from the cw a and it showed kids getting hot lunches. that was important. he put 2 million americans to work. and that included about 50 thousand school teachers sent out to rural areas. this is a cw a project. that's stern grove behind it
