[applause] the rebuild, obviously helps our local economy. ll be over 3000 jobs created as a result of the lalre our local hire san franciscans. that goes a long way to one of -- hiring more of our great people in everything we do. over 10% of the contractors are local businesses already working on the contract, with more to come. this hospital is the busiest emergency room in the city. and because of this rebuild, it will triple in the size of a number of emergency rooms that it has, and it will be equipped to double the capacity of to 120 beds. with the size of the hospital being rebuilt, with the seismic standards it will have, with the way we approach that as a city family with our great private leaders in the sector joining the city, i cannot but repeat to you -- this hospital and the foundation that it has had to help it is the heart of the city and county of san francisco. that is why i enjoy this. if there is anything i know this year even these first few weeks on the job, my love for the city has grown even deeper. thank you very much

this is having a big impact on the local economy as the volcanic ash is damaging local farmland. the volcano has erupted several times in the past few days, spewing columns of smoke over 2,000 meters high. officials are warning people not to come within 4 kilometers of the crater because of falling ash and cinders. miyazaki prefecture said volcanic ashe damaged thousands of farms in the prefecture as of friday. they have been buried invoke nick ash. farmers have not been able to harvest or ship produce. blocking sunlight and slowing growth of food and flowers. officials say eruptions have disrupted farms. to make things worse miyazaki prefecture is suffering from an outbreak of bird flu at poultry farms. on sunday the 11th case of the disease was confirmed in a town in miyazaki city. about 140 chickens found dead at the farm over the weekend. the prefecture says the h5 strain was found in three of them. the farm's entire poultry population was culled monday. chicken and eggs from producers within a 10 kilometer radius has been banned. more than 940,000 chickens in the prefecture

it began to float local economies. they did an enormous amount of work. they wanted millions of trees. i looked over into alabama across a great forest of trees that were 70 years old. they're planted in huge numbers. imagine the kind of wildlife that becomes. they did an enormous amount of work and when the war was here, there was ready to go fight. this was not what this was intended to do. there are a few statues. they built a lot of lodges and visitor centers. these are just beautiful. amount of landscapes of ccc. this is the park. they did the work in them. the civil works administration was short lived. it was to get the people through the winter. and it was under the administration of a remarkable social worker from iowa named hary hopkins. he was the forerunner of the wpa and the prototype for it. this is a page from the cw a and it showed kids getting hot lunches. that was important. he put 2 million americans to work. and that included about 50 thousand school teachers sent out to rural areas. this is a cw a project. that's stern grove behind it

encouragement to support such projects and strengthen local community and encourage the growth of the local economy. i hope in the near future more urban act projects would take root. thank you. >> i am alley buttner and i am incredibly proud to be here today. i wear several different hats. one is as a producer for a local public radio station in san francisco and we value everything that is going on locally that is community based and community oriented and the other part is i work indoors almost all the time and at computers and i go almost every day that i can after work to little city garden and it provides an incredible haifsh for -- an incredible haven for me and so many people in san francisco who work indoor jobs to have access to volunteer and get their local food and just be in a place with plants and trees and people outside is enormously valuable. i am a medical herbalist and value having land open in the city for growing herbs for teas and various things and the third hat is that brooke is my sister and her partner, and i have watched with amazing passion and thoroughness and dedicatio

we wanted to use a community bank, a local bank, and use funds into the local economy, but we ended up having to go to a bank in sacramento. we found a community bank there that was willing to work with us. many of the bank's -- pg&e were keeping funds in some of these banks. there was a lot of misinformation going around that had an impact on our banks. it made it difficult for us to find credit anywhere. the individuals stepping forward turned out to be -- it was not our top choice of how to get started, but it became necessary. we are grateful they did that. we are ready point now where we actually might be paying those loans off within a couple of months. they are no longer on the hook for it.
