action over the past decade you know that i'm all about local community benefits and local jobs and local union jobs and prevailing wages. it was the advocates that went to the lafco and insisted that we get the enernex report to happen and it would show what local community benefits would really mean to this community and even though enernex didn't have anything to look at with the behind the meter resources it's showing 4500 jobs in this area that about that are going to be going to people and we, as advocates, now that we know this program is moving forward, the main thing we're communicating about is making sure there's local union jobs and not the community benefits that communities like the ones that are underserved right now that you have been the champion for get these benefits and so what i would ask is that all of you unanimously support sending the communication to support the program but along the lines of what you said commissioner king i'd also include in that communication a request to the sfpuc and the staff to engage this department on what i was talking about before which is r

we have been working with the local union and employees on making the most use of that as well as tightening some of the leave usage programs and we have seen a reduction in leave usage in the last couple of months and resulted in more staff to answer calls and a positive trend we hope to continue and increase in productivity over the work force over this same period. the challenges we've had not due to our work force being less productive at all and it's actually the reverse, and as i mentioned we have had three classes seated and we are working with the budget office on a long-term staffing plan and in the meantime we have been using a loft overtime to -- a lot of overtime to answer the calls in a timely fashion. quickly i will highlight a couple other areas of focus. we have been working with the fire department on technology and procedural changes to try to improve medical and fire dispatch. that's a big focus for us and that relates to the third thing, the bullet enhancing training for low frequency high impact events and the fire end of the fire department focuses on are low frequency

local building trades council and after after affiliates. are you looking at all of those kinds of things? >> obviously you got to include labor and we engaged the electrical union ibew was involved they were involved in the monthly meetings and we've prioritized good local and union jobs but we haven't set requirements for that our own staff is very small and i think everybody in this room knows but just to clarify the staff of the program can be light we're essentially purchasing power and in our case paying third parties to administer programs you may administer them yourself and the staff is small we have 9 people today and will grow to 15 or 20 over time but we do sit down with the electrical union and building trades and talk about projects we've signed 70 me megawatts of solar and made that a priority when we don't do union in our local area we're we're doing living wage and that's important to us. we have tried -- this is another area where we try not to have too many ridged rules too early and that's a hard thing to do because there's a lot of pressure from all sides to some really specific conclusions right out of the gate but we try to reup that conve
