talking about the briefing that local power will give on january 22 about their work on the local build down. i think you have heard in the past hearings that i and others have said what they have developed in a financial model to get the entire power that advocates are asking for. and putting out in the same price by pg & e and by the locals in the first years of the program. but however the exciting new news in the latest stakeholder meeting between local power and sfsgu and advocates. local power after heard from a lot of us, and after saying, listen, what you are putting together is good. but we have an issue that commissioner caen raised, pg & e is going to roll out their green program at a $6 premium. and it's lower than the 10-20. and hearing the comments from us and staff, local power developed a new model based on its previous models. that model will use renewable energy credits at the same level they are used in morion county. and something that environmentalists weren't thrilled about using credits. however local power has worked credits and worked through hetch hetchy power

elected official and governor -- once a local elected official, always a local elected official. what i learned from that is partnership is what it's all about. if you want to confront the most vexing problems, you have to bring people across an ideological spectrum, you have to include the business community, you have to include our nonprofit, our faith leaders. that's how you get things done, when you bring people together. and i look around this room and i see that you have already figured that out. i hope some of you had the opportunity to meet lee hirsch because i've done a lot of work with him in the context of our bullying. one of my favorite memories in my experience with lee is that we watched this film together with about a thousand people in sioux falls, south dakota, it was remarkable to watch the reactions of the kids in sioux falls, parents, educators, and we did that same q and a when we were done. i appreciate the wonderful words of your superintendent, that was exactly the dynamic in sioux falls and that's the remarkable thing, superintendent, is that this issue

the gravitas still has to have the local component and the local news. you know, with multitasking, they can go hyper local. you can put for broadcast channels in there now. you are seeing a lot of the minority community finding mixed markets in multitasking. you are finding foreign language and religious broadcasting, full-time sports and weather. all of these things are part of the new age that we live in. and they come to us via broadcast. >> host: how complicated bc the process being? >> i see a hugely complicated process. i think a lot of folks are scratching their heads. but we want to be cooperative. if a broadcaster wants to go out of business and cashin, that is called freedom. we support that. if somebody wants to go out of business, they can. but the problem in all of this is that this is an urban problem. it's not a rule problem. the urban stations come they ones they want to go out of business, they are not going to volunteer. the areas where they are at people to volunteer tend to be flyover states. they don't need that spectrum. so how thi

the local is there. i think the national is there, too.lots of congress people talking about local issue as we know today, lots of congressmen, congress people being -- being partisan, taking the stands of their parties, with just being involved in whatever's going on of the time. you know, be it the contract with america, then be it women's issues, be it issues of minorities or immigration, just lots of national examples, and that in a lot of ways, local and national were connected. obviously, the national politics was interested to me as it played out in local districts. i was also, given that i was -- i was surprised by how local things still were. i know it's a book that's supposed to talk about and highlight national politics, but i was surprised that -- how local politics still was, and the other thing that impressed me within -- i mean, we talk a lot that members of congress are supposed to, quote, represent their constituency, and tried to show, you know, what's "representation" mean? it means a lot of different things, but within
