austin where cnbc's julia boorstin is live at south by southwest with an exclusive with lyft ceo logan greenly. logan, thanks for joining us right after you came offstage. just before the break we were talking about the story about how lyft as well as uber are facing these lawsuits and the threat that you might have to recategorize your employees who are currently independent contractors as employees. what kind of threat does this pose to your business? >> so i can't comment on any ongoing litigation but what we can talk about is the role that we're playing in the sharing economy and how the sharing economy is changing the nature of work. so there are a couple of really interesting stats that we found out about our drivers. the average driver is doing it for about 14 hours a week. and in l.a. we wanted to know, you know, why are they doing it and what other jobs are they looking at? 60% of our drivers in l.a. work in a creative industry. so they drive lyft for a few hours so they can cover rent and then whenever they get a call from their agent and they need to go on an addition or something

logan greene saysl lyft is profitable and is looking to expand.ing a comeback a little more than a year after emerging from chapter 11. american well replace allergan. there are two other airlines in the s&p. southwest and delta. both of those airlines benefit. tom: i think it is boarding on -- bordering on scandal. the private equity deals are getting out of control. olivia: that is what silicon valley does. tom: it is getting out of control. olivia: it is a nice segue to our next segment. americans used to make stuff. today, talent has replaced natural resources. roger martin is with the university of toronto. why this is talent economy that feels things like pinterest and uber carhas actually peaked? roger: we have transitioned from a world in which the biggest and most valuable companies were natural resource companies. in that world, capital was in the seat and suppressed what talent could earn. olivia: it is no longer oil. it is facebook and apple and google. roger: talent started to wake-up and say we are in charge. it is about us. it has c

green. back to you. >>> i'm angie goff with this just in. jetblue airlines is experiencing a system wide ticketing outage right now. this originated in boston's logan we're hearing it's affecting airports nationwide. we made some calls and find out that it's not impacting dulles international or bwi. we're waiting to hear back from reagan national. the issue is that people can't check in online so passengers have to do it manually. jetblue sending out a series of tweets saying they're working on the problem trying to get the system up and running again. still no word on the cause of the outage. >>> it is now 6:34. new this morning, montgomery county firefighters say a fire caused $600,000 worth of damage. take a look this happened at a home on bryn mawr avenue in glenn echo. it broke out around midnight and 85 firefighters had to respond to the call. firefighters say the cause was a catastrophic electrical event. >>> today firefighters will be out in northeast washington where a man died in a fire. take a look. you can see the smoke coming out of the building. this is video from eastern avenue northeast. firefighters say the man who died had hoardi
