it's on the eastern end of long island.e been hundreds of firefighters battling this fire. it is being called the worst ones of suffolk county to hit long island since 1995. firefighters from 109 different counties are fighting it. it has been burning away from most homes and businesses. however there is a red flag warning. there is plenty of wind and dry fuel to keep this going. three firefighters have already been injured fighting this place. two of them have been released but a third is still receiving treatments for burns. still no word on what caused this fire. one note on the weather today. the wind is not quite as noticeable as it was at this hour yesterday. so hopefully that will give firefighters some help in what has been a very difficult fight. the fire started yesterday around 2:30 at two separate fires quickly fused in one. this has become a nightmare for firefighters. through the night they did sort of an exterior attack which means they fought the fire from the roadway which means it is too dangerous to be in
