as you said this morning, paul kutz who was 53 was laid to rest on long island.was gunned down in a court yard lobby in a marriott in poughkeepsie. he was visiting his son who was a student at marist college. it was parent's weekend. they were there. the shots rang out. the suspected shooter is identified as roy johnson jr. a fugitive. wanted on gun and drug charges from fulton county, georgia. he's also a suspect in a new york gang-related killing. he and another suspect face explosive charges because police say they found bomb making material in their hotel room. they were indicted friday and will be arraigned this week. victims rights activists, jennifer harrison said criminal fugitives like johnson out on the streets and continue to commit crimes, she says it's sadly all too common. >> this has become the new normal. i don't want any person that doesn't deal with this daily to become numb to this. we as a society should be shocked by every instance that this happens and this should not be the new norm and we need to fix it before there's any more loss of life

what a tragedy for the family who is from long island here in new york. learning about the suspects and they have quite a long rap sheet and that they were homeless. this was an innocent father and a husband, gunned down while visiting his son at a college in down state new york. supposed to be a nice family weekend and ended in such a tragedy. this is where it happened here on sunday morning in the lobby of the marriott in new york, the gunman got into an argue mrent with a hotel employee about coffee, and then he sprayed bullets around the lobby. he was an accountant in the area, shot at least two times, once in the chest. his murder sent shock through the entire merist college community. the campus was packed with families visiting, and police pledge to pour all resources into the case. >> i want to also express sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victim in this case. this unspeakable violence in the lobby of a hotel shakes the very conscience of a community. we will spare no resource to bring those involved in this to accountability.
