a boulder year-old adrian shaffer opened fire on deputy terri javes along highway 287 - south of longmont. before the shooting, several 9-1-1 callers had reported a man with a gun walking along the road and threatening drivers. javes was not hurt. the boulder county sheriff's office says shaffer died this weekend - after being in the hospital for a week. the shooting is still under investigation. javes is a 19-year veteran of the sheriff's department. a constructi after a trench collapsed around him. the south adams county fire department says the crew was working on some kind of line near east 72nd and ivy when the collapse happened around 11:30 sunday morning.. a man in his 30s was trapped from the waist down. emergency responders freed him around 3 in the afternoon... he was awake and talking the entire time. one person is dead after a shooting in sunday night - and found a man shot in the chest near west 99th place. that man was pronounced dead at the scene. police say a woman was taken the hospital - but she was not injured. detectives are getting search warrants for the house... no

although it's near the longmont city limits-- the mill is actually in unincorporated boulder county. three years and almost four billion dollars later -- some colorado communities are still cleaning up -- after floods washed through parts of the state. back in 20-13...more than 18-thousand a lot of the damage spread across boulder county.. boulder county faced a long recovery -- so they created the "flood debris clean up program" to try and help. crews worked on more than 100 properties in unincorporated boulder county...and sent more than 200 tons of trash, plants, sand and rock to the landfill... boulder county expects to spend 282 million in the clean up effort -- which includes road work and an 11 year old boy died on a rafting trip...and the company that took him - was on probation. the denver post reports that the "adventure company of buena vista" was at risk of losing its license -- and was put on probation twice -- before the incident. but - the owner of the company says the violations were for record keeping- not safety concerns. at least it happened after labor day weekend

crews in longmont want to know what sparked a fire at an abandoned sugar mill in boulder county. the fire started yesterday evening... at the old "western sugar mill" building-- on sugar mill road. before the fire started- there shouldn't have been any people nearby. boulder county's website says the building has sat empty since the late 19-70's. it also has asbestos. "that's" why crews flames from outside the building. years since historic floods washed out parts of colorado... and communities are still cleaning up the damage. the flooding caused nearly four billion dollars of damage in 20-13... and displaced more than 18 thousand people. in boulder county alone- they expect to spend 282 million dollars by the end of the recovery efforts. we asked what boulder county so far... some major milestones include- road work and bridge construction. boulder county created the flood debris clean up program to help with some of the work... they hired 44 underemployed people and trained them to clean up flood debris. crews worked on 142 properties in unincorporated boulder county... sent 2
