chief timothy longo, with the charlottesville police department. chief, thank you for being with us. >> nancy, thank you for having me. i really appreciate the opportunity to be on your show tonight. >> thank you. chief, i know the crime scene must have been devastating to the police officers that worked it because this girl, i mean, she had so much to live for. a real star. not only on the lacrosse field, but amongst her friends and family, absolutely adored. what first led you to another lacrosse player? >> well, suffice it to say that investigators very quickly began looking at mr. huguely in this particular case perhaps because of his relationship with miss love and information that they began to gather from potential witnesses. they contacted him initially at his apartment. he voluntarily came to the police station and began a discussion with them. you've read from the search warrant affidavits that you have copies of, that at some point during the course of a mirandized statement, he began to give admissions against self-interests and describ

i know chief timothy longo, that you know that only too well.i'm very disturbed about something. i don't even know if the cops were called about this. number one, i understand that back in 2008, the suspect, a star lacrosse player at uva, you can't get any more upper crust than uva except, i don't know, maybe if you go to harvard or yale, chief. but a star athlete. the suspect in this case, the potential killer, actually attacked a female cop in 2008 using sexual and racial slurs and fought her so hard she had to taser him. is that true, chief? >> well, i've been made aware of that incident. i was not aware of it other than media accounts that came to my attention over the last couple days. i didn't speak with the chief of police of lexington, which is about an hour and a half from here. he confirmed that the incident took place. i wouldn't be appropriate for me to talk about his case, but i know that he's fielded many media ininquires about it. we're concerned that that also o karred. we'll give it the mare it and value that we do as this case
