let's begin with lonnie quinn in the weather center. he is looking at potential totals now. >> reporter: let's talk about it. here's what we have right now. maybe nipping at the northern fringing the sullivan county and ulster counties all part of this cold front. we're not entirely sure where they are going. yesterday the consensus was tight they are going to hug the coastline. it's going to be a big system for our area. get a lot of snow. thinking as of late has been to push it further east. the further east it go, the less snow we get. but just recently now they have started to nudge it back to the west a little bit so you have to keep an eye on this thing. as of now, my numbers look like this. yeah, i had to take that track into consideration. i would say it's a widespread one to three for most folks. to the east end of long island higher elevations just because you know your trent in the higher elevations you have a chance to pick up snow. over six inches to boston with the big numbers. >> the mere thought of snow on the first day

. >> lonnie quinn in the weather center, checking it out. lonnie? >> this is what we have for you right now. you talked about the wind advisory in effect. it is just now starting to see the winds kicking in. it is partly sunny. a brighter sky right now. than what you had for the bulk of the day. 60 degrees out. warmest reading of the day. here is the vortex satellite and radar. we had one low pressure system that is now pushed east of our area and there is that rain today, a second one moving through but you can see down here, we saw the pictures in washington, d.c., where the sunshine was and the clouds right there, and sunshine, south there. and that is a high pressure system. and today, the low pressure system. in between, you get that squeeze, you get that tight pressure gradient and the winds whipping through williamsport right now with some report of 50 mile-an-hour wind gusts. that's the sort of thing we can get here. i think it is probably more likely we see the 30s and the 40s. but the national weather service says be prepared for some gust

lonnie quinn watching the storm system from the weather center. >> let me show you what it looked like between 7:30 and 8:30. we captured it here on our vortex radar. too to the north and east, that's your tornado right there, one more time rolling through, this purple right there, that captures it. and we think of tornado season as this time of year, but i want to address the term tornado season. okay? because we use that term a lot but there's really no such thing. tornadoes can occur all year long. you may remember this february, we talked about a tornado in this country. it is most active however from april through june. as far as new york city goes, we averaged just about two tornadoes a year so we're not immune to this sort of thing, we just don't see too much of it. vortex satellite and radar, this is the front that was responsible for the tornadic activity as it pushed through oklahoma. it is moving from the west to the east. so it will be the northern portion that affect us. i will tell you what that means right now, let's go back to you. >> thank you. developing now in the br
