lonnie quinn is here with that and the heat and heavy weather. >> you're talking about the possibility for more lightning strikes. here's your vortex satellite and radar. 4:05 moved through poughkeepsie. the number of lightning strikes with it the mayor said it wasn't but a lot of lightning. 110 strikes as it rolled right over poughkeepsie. and that's not the only game in town. it's the first one of the afternoon. it's the furthest east right now. it's in central connecticut. we have a couple of other big storms out there. zoom in tight this particular storm in hunterdon county has 171 bigger than the storm in poughkeepsie. mount olive another cell in line with the size of the store over poughkeepsie. if we track the leading edge of this storm, it is being pushed off to the east sort of northeast and again, this is just one. another one to the north, couple others popping up, as well. but by 6:30 to edison. it could be in new york city by 7: 30. look at the feels-like temperatures. it feels like 100 in new york city. feels like 104 in white plains. 75 feels-like temperature in monticel

lonnie quinn has his eye on that one and it's been named. >> you bet. just received a name today tropical storm fiona and keep in mind, we just heard from elise finch in that story, what is a hurricane? a hurricane is mother nature's way of releasing heat. all right? that's what a hurricane is. and this july, nasa just reported this july was the hottest july on record in recorded history. so we have a lot of heat sort storm fiona. low grade tropical storm. 40-mile-per-hour winds. moving to the northwest at 16 miles per hour. national hurricane center thinks it may be increased to maybe 60-mile-per-hour winds. maybe go down to 50-mile-per- hour winds on monday at 2 p.m. still quite a ways away from land. that's bermuda right there. so we'll watch it and see where this goes but we have our eye on it and we know that fiona is out th weather lab. it's parked in battery park. this will give you a picture outside of what things are looking like. here we go. the vehicle looking great. the people looking even better down in battery park city. and as we zoom aro

lonnie quinn is out there now in columbus circle with the mobile weather lab. no complaints, right? >> reporter: no. now, you guys were saying a few clouds out there. yeah. i can't find any right n central park but you are right. looking at the satellite picture before i left the office, look, a couple of clouds here or ther -- here or there. no problems overnight. we are at columbus circle. yesterday i gave you a tour of the devices on the roof but i want to go up top and show you one thing as far as how we are displaying information. that's the anemometer. those spinning spoons? that's giving us information on the wind. so if you look down here at our monitor, right here is your much of anything, 1.3, 1.9 miles per hour. but if you swing it up top, here's the three seconds average. it changes every three seconds. they are noun 3.3. i have a two-minute average and here's a 10-minute average. so we catalog the data so i can tell you the biggest winds gusts we have had over the last 10 minutes but i can go deeper than that if i have to. i can tell you more if we are in the middle of
