if you look at gross trade flows, china looks huge. but if you look at value added trade, you see that with traded for the last 25 years, the footprint in trade with asia has not changed at all, it has just moved into china. so essentially china is sucking in flow from all over the world putting it together and sending it to the rest of the world. so in regards, the value added numbers, if you look at the actual supply chains you will see that most of the major supply chains that have gone through asia, and china, are actually owned by american companies. so china may be the last stop on the supply chains and it made -- may make them appear larger in the statistics, but you will see that most of those supply chains are mostly u.s. and european owned and that is not going to change whether there is a tpp or not. so i do not believe that suddenly we are advocating the next century on trade, not at all. where i feel like we have really hurt ourselves is with security and geopolitics. > ok. yes, thank you. i have a quick statement at the b

looking over here, and the roadways look pretty good. things are starting to dry out, so the green highlighted the road weather index moving fard to the east. tri-valley not effected right now, but maybe slick off ramps. north 101 completely recovered over just seven minutes. north 101 at bernal road, the earlier crash has cleared from the roadway. a damp interchange. a little slowing for 101 at 680. that's the typical pattern for san jose. over here, the crash is on the shoulder as you approach san francisco. the backup, now it's back at the toll plaza. the metering lights likely cycling a little slower to keep the span moving well. it is moving well past the crash at fremont. as we look a at waze, nothing really unusual. 680 slows a bit through pleasanton. your course from castro valley to fremont, the longest of the three drives is the quickest route. that's the purple one through the tri-valley. if you want to get some wisdom like this or share your wisdom, go to your waze app and make sure you're a part of our team. first, you have

one of the ways i like to look at it is by looking at term premium. think it is a nice measure of how people are thinking about the trump presidency and its effect on markets. when we do that, we do find that quite a bit has come out of the treasury market. a little more than you would expect if you just look at the 10 year treasury yields themselves. one of the things i like to do is looking at our 10 year treasury term premium measure. this is on the bloomberg terminal. what you can see here is we have taken out quite a bit of the postelection jump in term premium. >> you can look at the two-year tenure spread and see the narrowing. it is at the narrowest since the election. that is a good way of looking at how the trump trade has been narrowing. but bond markets have not bought into the trump trade as much as the stock markets have. jonathan: we will get to the spreads and the curve in a moment. we had the odds of a move in june it rolling over. we had the odds of a move in september rolling over. is fading the fed the right thing to do on the back

let's take a look at some of the various ways to look at the issue.chart looking at the inverse vix and the s&p 500 and you can see that rather than the vix leading the s&p, they are almost mirror images of each other. another way to measure it is to look at the correlation or lack thereof two. that tends to be a steady, strong negative correlation between them. the inverse correlation has weakened as of late. now it is about -0.6. the closer to zero, the more independently the measures move of each other. something else we can look at is the 10 level on the vix. not been that frequent that we see the vix move below this level. lower level the indicator. on the bottom, you have the vix low. to put it another way, let's take a look at another screen. those little red dots appear 14 times going back to the early 1990's. the average of 20 sessions falling below, 0.43%. in other words, not really much predictive power for future stock returns from the vix falling to that very low level. even if you look at the positive , about half the time, we saw stocks
