loop past the accident scene.t is importanten to note for our friends coming out of gaithersburg and rockville. however, for those traveling on the inner loop coming from river road, the american legion bridge area and headed north up towards 270, once you commit after that northbound 270 split, once you commit to go eastbound around the capital beltway, that is where you hit the backup. it is from before old georgetown road headed around towards that accident scene. you are coming out of virginia, you need to head into the district, you can get off at river road and head inbound towards western avenue. that is a still a viable option for you at this time. but the delay is beginning at the 270 split to go northbound up towards democracy boulevard or continue around the curve here over towards 355. the inner loop of the play remains should down. no problems to report on the outer loop between college park and bethesda. traffic flowing freely each way at the wilson bridge. that's a check of your fox 5 on-timetraffic

on the inner loop before 355.hese are all those people stuck on the beltway with authorities on the scene and you're looking i believe at one of the tractor-trailers involved there as well. now, both of those tractor- trailers, they need to off load the fuel and that's why they're in the letting nip of this -- not letting any of this traffic through. basically all of these people have been sitting there since 4:30 this morning and will be there i believe for at least another 45 minutes to an hour before they can start the let traffic through -- to let traffic through safely. in the meantime if you usually use eastbound 495, take a look at your delay. let's go to our chart camera. this is the spur and again no one moving trying to get south to the eastbound side of 495. so that's definitely not a good idea. you need to choose your alternate routes north of the beltway. it's montrose to randolph to connecticut or 355 to strathmore avenue to knolls to connecticut and south of the beltway go aled and use jones bridge

an absolute mess here on the inner loop.ot an accident involving two tractor-trailers just prior to 355. that had a fuel spill associated with it, and so they closed down all lanes of 355. so we have standstill traffic, folks who have been stuck in place for over an hour. they're actually stuck between the two exits, between 355 and old georgetown road, and there simply just isn't anywhere for them to go. a lot of folks have actually exited their vehicles at this point. they're walking around. they're talking to one another. they certainly aren't moving anywhere this morning. and you can see the backup here live. we're told it goes for about two miles and that this is an accident that's going to take hours to clean up. we have seen a state trooper seeming to try and organize some of the traffic here. i don't know if they're trying to kind of do something, maybe open up a shoulder or something like that. they have not done that yet. there is some indication that they're trying to organize the folks that are trapped here a lit
