looking at the situation particularly around lordstown, the trump team is saying this plant on the other of the state has been brought back from almost extinction. is that true? and is that an economic story of success across ohio? >> so that plant that president trump is visiting today where they build military equipment has benefitted from president trump pumping a lot more money, building that defense budget, no doubt about that. while the job picture looks very good across the nation, there are pockets of pain. in particular in places where the president has specifically said he will personally intervene, places like the carrier factory in indiana and the gm lordstown factory on the other side of ohio. it hasn't gone very well. his track record is not very good at saving those jobs in the places that he personally has said he will help. >> i was also just in ohio. i was in the cleveland area recently. look, i think ohio is really the showcase state for donald trump in terms of the economic revival. there are some plants that are closing. that's what we call creative destruction. the

getting news that cadillac is going to be coming out with a new ct-5 sedan but the chevy cruz in lordstown seem to sell the car. is that just a car problem and not a general motors versus president trump problem? >> that's exactly right. we're looking at a situation where in this country people just are not buying sedans the way they did a generation ago, even five years ago, with oil prices being what they are, the preference is for suvs and frankly the larger the better. that's where the industry's going. so we're seeing this sort of rationalization which general motors announced last fall closing five factories and ford and the other automakers are all p kind of in the same boat on this. focusing on suvs and away from he sedans. cheryl: that's certainly true. people want bigger and better, they want electric, maybe go to texas, all you can see is big trucks all over the road. at the same time, the president did make an interesting point yesterday in his twitter attacks against gm or on sunday, excuse me. he said, look, why don't we set up negotiations sooner rather than later with the u

let's make sure one of them at least is in lordstown. this would be the first time in almost 100 years that general motors was not assembling vehicles in ohio. think about that. they have other plants in ohio. they make transmissions in ohio, but this would be the differefie we don't have an assembly plant in the second biggest auto state in the country. i think it's about 10% of the payroll in the youngstown area. this is a big deal. >> when the president down plays the impact and he says the jobs are going to be replaced in ohio in something like two minutes, i venture to guess you don't see it that way? >> well, certainly not for that valley. there's no replacement because there's no employer that pays those kind of wages and has those kind of benefits that's that large. it is impossible to replace that particular plant. i will say that our economy in ohio is generally good. unemployment is relatively low. we're seeing wages going up for the first time in about a decade and a half in ohio. even in youngstown there are some interesting
