here to tell us more, loretta is here, president of forgotten friends of long island, and ma lay in agreat animals. today it's rusty and lucky. welcome back to both of you. >> thank you so much for having us. >> brian: who is rusty and ho is lucky? >> this is rusty. >> brian: rusty, tell me about rusty. >> okay. rusty is a little chihuahua that was rescued from animal care and control here in the city. we rescued him the day before sandy hit. he actually was starting to get sick in the she willer -- shelter and we were afraid he would end up on the euthanasia list. she picked hip up and brought him to us. niece a foster home in ocean side and he is doing spectacular. >> brian: does he get along? does he hop on the furniture? is he friendly to children? >> very friendly. dogs, cats, people. >> brian: all right. now let's look at lucky. ice a mix of pit bull and golden retriever. >> yes. lucky is about a year, year and a half. he was also rescued from the brooklyn shelter. he was on the euthanasia list, found a a stray with a severely broken leg. he required two operations to correct it

[ laughter ] >> stephanie: now rude,going to raise are the medicare age even though there were signs that was going to happen. klein wrote about that recently. now democrats came out this weekend. dick durbin and others saying we're not going to raise the medicare age. >> stephanie: i think that's a bad idea. there is a lot of unintended stuff that's going to happen from that which is not -- it just defeats the purpose. >> totally. not only that but it is in its own way, in sort of the language that republicans use, it is raising rates on seniors because people 65 to 67 are going to have to go to the private market and get insurance. now sure, the government may not be paying for it. but -- so it might cut the cost. >> stephanie: they're going to raise the rates because those will be the youngest, healthiest people in medicare. >> it will raise the rates for them and people that should be on medicare will be detail end of the time -- their time on private insurance when rates would be the highest. >> stephanie: yeah. >>

and loretta and i have come to know char and dick lugar as exceptional people. char and i would sit and talk about books which she loves to read and i do, too. dick and i would talk about the topic of the day. we created a bond of friendship in those experiences. he has done so much work here in the united states senate, as senator mcconnell noted, starting as the mayor of indianapolis and working his way up to the senate. he became a powerful force on the senate foreign relations committee. i was honored to serve on that committee over the last several years and watch his work unfold and evolve. dick lugar is going on to great things, i'm sure. this is not the end of his service to our country. i wish him and char the very best, whatever their next undertaking may be. as you received praise from the senator of kentucky to the south of indiana, accept some from the west of indiana in the state of illinois. i am lucky to count dick lugar as a friend. i will miss you. you were an extraordinary ally and colleague on so many important issues. let me also add my comm
