lori. lori: peter, that was interesting.same response he gave what do you think the long-term effects of this monetary policy? ashley: that's right. >> i'm not prepared. i'm not prepared to answer that that's what he said. lori: a bit concerning too, don't you think? >> yeah. more uncertainty, right? lori: such historical expert after the great depression. ashley: we're in territory that has never been seen before. it is hard for him to gauge because we're in uncharted territory, that's for sure. lori: i think we might be on the verge of seeing an inflection in markets. let's show the bond yields again. ashley: you were talking about that. lori: keep an eye on 10-year-old, goes past 2.04 2.04, .05% we might see a significant selloff finally in bonds. a lot of people are wondering if the bond market has been in a bubble process if you will. ashley: there has been a lot of talk about that. lori: 30 basis points. this as the stock market gains earlier virtually all evaporated. the market is down. ashley: the dow is off 13 point

lori? adam, when we spoke last hour i asked you if you believed madoff and, in no uncertain terms you said you're not really buying it. in particular with the charges against jpmorgan, what does madoff ultimately want? what kind of a punishment? why is he so adamant? >> he says it is not about punishment, lori. he says it is about getting money back. at least as the trustee paints it in that lawsuit the questions that haven't been answered yet. jpmorgan chase in the fall of 2008 told the united kingdom organized crime agency they suspected fraud at madoff. the question that madoff could not answer and has not yet been answered in court why did not jpmorgan chase put a freeze on the account at that point when they notified u.k. authorities about a fraud. this is three months before it all became public? why if they did not or if they did, what did they do did they notify anybody in the united states about that? lori: madoff is now an advocate for victims he ripped off by getting money back f

lori: interesting.n lower again. 14 cents off, $94.11 a barrel as we're showing our viewers. these fundamentals, earlier we had the eia inventory report showing inventories fell but much less than expected so these fundamentals you've also got a weaker dollar today, not really playing in as a factor. >> that's correct. usually the dollar is, you know, comes into play here. a weaker dollar usually supports prices. that has been pretty much discounted over the last couple sessions. the inventory reports correctly were somewhat on the bearish side. terribly but it is creating a chart pattern that is what is called a narrowing action. that gives you what they call upward facing flag. and that usually proceeds a downward move. lori: what is your longer term outlook for the price of oil through the summer? >> not, short term i think we'll work our way back down to the lower 90s. i would say, gasoline will be down, oh, i would say another 10 to 15 cents over the next month or so. again, i want to temper that j

lori: interesting. another thing that comes to mind is april retail sales data showing one-tenth of 1% gain, forecast is looking for a decline, don't ever rule out the american consumer, but it begs the question, should the fed pay for even halted quantitative easing purchases and that that happens, cannot help the stock market run? >> if you look at where the p/e is today, about 14 times, that is actually not very demanding given the 10-year treasury is below 2% yield. we have never seen p/e ratios this low when the tenure treasury was below 6% yield. what really is happening is the market is looking through the very low yield anticipating they will in fact have to increase over the next few years and price the stock market accordingly. lori: that is a great metric, actually. go back to profits, the theme of the last earnings season seems to be companies just could not generate revenue. the bottom line is great and beaten many standards, but revenue was still a challenge and at some point was that catc
